mylotters mistake me for a girl

Philippines
April 12, 2013 2:08am CST
i started a topic a few days ago about circumcision and i shared my personal experience about it. then someone who replied to my topic said that she always have thought i'm a girl. i wonder what's feminine about my username? or maybe because of my avatar? or maybe it's just an honest mistake? do you have the same experience as me.

I wondered why you didn't look like a Philippine native but then I guess there are people who live in the Philippines who are not native to the island.

Oh i go the first 3 words , but dont know what was sabado ,but then i thought it was only one word in your language. okay so you love saturday.
• Philippines

okay. i will explain my username. "iluvu" means "i love you" while "sabado" is "saturday in our language. that's it. no deep meaning whatsoever.

having iluvu in your username makes it a bit more feminine because guys dont usually use that word as username.
• Philippines

really? i just wanted to use a username that would be unique enough so i won't have duplicates.

I also used to think of you as a woman, but after reading several of your posts, i figured that you were a guy. I just didn't ask you, I was shy.

Actually, some of his posts made me think if he could be a female because of their sensitivity... I knew I was wrong when I checked his profile clearly says 'male'...

thanks sishy7 for checking my profile. jenny, no need to ask me. you can check my profile.

I don't often see you but I thought you were a guy because of your avatar. But maybe you construct words and sentences in a very careful manner, maybe that's why people mistake you for a girl? Guys are often more direct with their opinions and they leave short responses sometimes.

Maybe an honest mistake. I'm not seeing anything particularly female about your avatar or name. Unless only girls are allowed to love Saturday?
• Philippines
15 Apr 13
really? TGIF us a restaurant here which means "thank god it's friday". i just changed it to saturday.

Ha ha.. It should be mistake for sure. I am saying this because in past I have made it one time too. WEll, here users are coming from all over the world. So naming is little confusing. I mean not all of us can guess the gender from name of other country people. So this can happen. Once I did the same thing and state one female user as he. But then I came to know about it and I said simple sorry. Well, it can happen to anyone. But since then I am confirming user's gender from his/her profile or from the discussion previous held. So i can get little idea about with whom I am discussing.

that's what i usually do. if i think the gender of the person is ambiguous, i just check their profile.

i really don't understand what's feminine with my username? just because i used "iluvu"?

some women are mistaken for gays, some guys are mistaken for gays also. some get offended, some laugh it off. offline, i still get mistaken for a guy because i'm tall, always have short hair, and have a "big" voice so i always tone it down, but they end up not hearing me. oh well. here, i guess it's hard to tell from my username, but my gender is indicated in my profile. i do take the time to check people's profile depending on the topic being discussed and i also mention it depending on the topic.

well usernames can be really deceiving. we don't know how people chose that username so i guess just check the profile to avoid mistakes.

Well for heaven's sake make no mistake if you do not mind me saying so, you are a very handsome young man any woman can see that. You sort of look like my handsome son lol and oh my goodness you were talking about circumcision I have only known men to get this operation. Oh well that is why I love mylot there is always some humour here and I love to have a laugh.

ya sometimes I also face the same problem because my half name resembles of a woman but full name resembles male. when people don't know my full name they think i'm a female unless I tell them full name or show them my photo
• Philippines
13 Apr 13
well your avatar now is a picture of a man so i would really assume you're a man. unless it's like a celebrity. girls often use the photo of the celebrity crushes in forums like this.

hello dude, Truth to be told, me too i just thought that you are a girl. Lol and i can say that, that was because of your name 'iluvusabado' having a feminine approach to those who will read, even the picture was a guy, it would be mistaken, sorry for thinking that you are a girl. Have a good day!!

I too faced the same situation. Once one of mylot friend mentioned that he thought me as a lady based on my user name. After that i cleared his doubt, some times mylotters misunderstood us in this ways.
