I'm not saying I didn't LIKE the Movie,I quite enjoyed it,but I'm not long home from a screening of Tom Cruise's latest,"Oblivion",and I'm thinking another name for it could have been "Deja Vu" for the amount of other SciFi Movies,good or bad,that it seems to reference during the couple of hours of runtime that I noticed..
I felt it was channelling 2001,Moon,Independence Day (or ID4),and even the "Dune" series at some points..Heck,let's throw in Mad Max-Beyond Thunderdome,and Planet of the Apes for the almost obligatory post apocalyptic Statue of Liberty reference..
Don't let me put you off going,it's an enjoyable ride,especially if you haven't been round the scifi block so much ..but would this or any other Movie You've seen (that's not a remake!) remind you in ways of others,and what were they?!

I don't recall any that remind me of others but I love a good reference as well as the next guy. I was hoping this Oblivion would have more to offer. I guess the great authors have about said it all then huh?! lol

Visually,it's worth a visit to the Cinema-some very cool tech.
While I went in with reservations,I came out having enjoyed the Movie.

I read somewhere after filming that TC was gifted with the Bike his character rode in the Movie..it folded out from a pod stored inside his Ship..whether the storage/assembly stages of the bike were dummy props and only the fully built one worked,I dunno..but it was a cool concept,however it arrived or was powered!

Sounds interesting. We don't have much money for new movies. Maybe the older ones at the cheapy theater.

I just took a look online and saw a trailer for it on IMDB..a 2012 Movie that's had apparently only a limited US release to date..A love story where the force keeping the couple apart happens to be Gravity..and now I'm thinking "Inception"!
