Gas from multivitamins

My doctor recommended me take a multi vitamin. I have been taking it the last few days, it's one of those gummy adult ones. I have had bad gas to the point where I can't walk. I am also taking b12 which hurts my stomach, and gives me cramps (so not sure if it's that or not). I don't know how people can take these regularly.

Each person has a different (some similar) reaction to some meds. Perhaps it doesn't work well with you. I'd suggest you stop taking it and consult so that you could be given something else. I wouldn't go with sacrificing for a vitamin hehehe.. I think you should stop immediately and tell your doctor your reactions. Have a great mylot experience ahead!

Try stopping. If the gas stops, then it's the meds, but if the gas goes on, then it's really caused by something else..

I would venture that it's more likely the b12 that is giving you the gas pains then it is the multivitamin. Multivitamin's don't really have enough of each vitamin to cause an upset of stomach, atleast I wouldn't think so.

I thought he may be the b12, and stopped it, but continued the multi vitamin. I kept getting the gas. Odd if you ask me, but then as I told my doctor I'm that odd person, if you haven't seen it happen I"m that person to show it wrong.

Hi, My wife takes multivitamin tablets many times. But she don't have any side effect or problem with them. You should consult the doctor and take advice for it.

sounds odd. this is the first time i've heard of this side effect of multivitamins. my son took b12 for years and he didn't complain. my hubby takes centrum and he has no problems. are you sure these are the culprits? why don't you go back to your doc and tell him about it?

I have a number of times, he says he has never heard of this, and basically telling me Im lying. I am assuming it has something to do with the colitis.

I have taken multivitamins off and on for the last 20 years or so, since I was 8 or 9? and I have never heard of anything like this. Multivitamins are just there as a safety net to your regular diet. They shouldn't cause effects like this and I have a worry that you have something else happening. I would see the doctor again and get some tests done as your health may be in danger..or were you eating gaseous food items the day of this bloating?
