It never fails. I am in the middle of something, or it's just before midnight and I want to get one last task done on a certain website, so it counts for the current soon-to-be-previous day, and my computer shuts down on account of another microsoft update. AARRGGHH!!! Of course by the time I get the damn thing up and running again, it's past mindnight, and so much for the goal I was trying to accomplish. Anyone else ever have this problem? Drives me nuts! I've managed to partially solve it on sites like MyLot, because I am able to access them from my iPhone. Of course I can't type as fast on an i{hone as I can on a laptop. LOL

Do you have Windows 8? I got a new laptop in December and was very excited, but trying to get used to Windows 8 has been a pain. And I do have times where it shuts down to install updates as well, its very aggravating. I also had a big problem with the first updates after I bought it, it would display that it was at like 85% completed, it would be stuck on that forever, but in reality it was completed. Windows 8 just is a headache in general in my opinion. I just hate when a computer forces updates, I think that its just logical that it should only be up to the user to decide if and when to do things.

I disabled my auto updates for Windows for exactly the reason you describe :) I get notified in my task bar when updates are available but I choose when to do them. I had an instance where an update failed in a huge way and I couldn't launch Windows immediately after it... and it caused me to lose a work assignment So now, my computer does nothing until I say so

I get update notices on my Mac but am able to defer them to "later" and continue with whatever I'm doing. However, yesterday, I was having much difficulty with myLot. I guess it was having hissy fits from too many updates!
