i want to monitor my home from another city

i am planning on a vacation but there are important files and things in my home. i cant trust any one. i want to monitor by myself. whether the technology has developed to his extent. if there is anything suggest a thing that would be a affordable one. does any come across a situation like this? is there any cameras that suits this situation?

WebCams are not expensive, nor is the software to run them, though monitoring more than one cam is a little more complex than just using a single camera. You may even find freeware programs which will do the job.
What you should expect to pay for is membership of a website which collects and stores the camera output so that you can view it online from anywhere.
