Two mothers and two daughters went to the mall. They had $27 and split it evenly without using coins. Please do not look up the answer. That's not fair to others who are honest. How is this possible? (I will follow the first person to get the answer correct)

they each got exactly nine dollars... two mothers, two daughters, but only actually 3 people....(grandmother, mother daughter....the grand mother is the mother of the "mother", the mother is the mother of the "daughter (so that is two moms) and the daughter is the daughter of the mother, and the mother is the daughter of the grandmother (so that is two daughters) 27 is divisible by 3....so $9 each :)

Well I don’t know. But I’ll do the math does that count for something? If they can not use coins that means they are not people who have 1-dollar coins in their currency. One possibility is we could assume there are 5-dollar bills and with 4 people involved, each person gets one 5. That could leave possibly seven one-dollar bills if the country in question actually has one-dollar bills. They could be divided with the group up leaving 3 left over. Well that won’t work out evenly so that is why I don’t know the answer to the riddle.
