I was told that this website would pay me for posting my own things and posting on other people's things. This doesn't seem to be the case.

Cupkitties is right. MyLot ended the earnings program at the beginning of May. Unfortunately, there are still hundreds of articles and blogs which claim that one can earn money here but they are all out of date (and many were making absurd claims, anyway!)
