Why do people get offended if they follow you and you dont follow them back?

I don't get it. I follow people generally because I like what they have to say. If I don't like what they have to say, then I don't follow them. It's simple. Why do some people feel the need to unfollow a person if that person does not follow them back within a certain amount of time? The only time I will unfollow is if I find out that a person has unfollowed me. Wait...Is that the same thing???

Some people--especially just starting-out in their online connection-building--just follow a lot of people in order to have them follow back. Buddhism is ALL ABOUT 'following to become a good leader' (although it's not so much 'following back' as it is 'following the right one & then leading all the followers who begin to follow after you begin'). Just don't worry about whether others unfollow. Whatever notices you receive about people, just think of the notices as 'opportunities to see how the people are.' And if the people become 'too different from what you want to follow,' THEN stop following them.

The ever so important them has done some huge favor by following you and now you owe them something. That is what they think. Basically they are narcissistic and presumptuous little twits. Some people will follow others and then announce the fact with a "Hey I just followed you. You should follow me back" message. Same thing.
