I think the 'make money'-tactic the wrong strategy for getting people to join. I think you should mention how much fun it is to be a contributing writer--to be enjoyed by other writers (which is the reason why I write here on myLot)--and then either mention the possibility of revenue-sharing or let them discover that themselves.
