I think I have downloaded the .exe to load Ubuntu onto a Windows-machine (a program called "wubu"), but--everytime I try to open it--it tells me 'it needs 250+ MB and only 150-some are 'available'!" So I guess what I'm asking is, How do I make more of my 8.something GB of free disk-space 'available' to load the new OS? ((OS = operating system, like Windows; MB = megabytes; GB = gigabytes)

I am not sure, but I believe the 250+ MB that ubuntu installer needs is RAM. How much ram do you have installed on your system? I don't know what version of windows you are using but you should be able to press ctrl+Alt+Del and then choose 'system monitor' one of the tabs shows memory total and how much is used. Hope that helps.

I don't know. I opened the 'Windows Task Manager,' went to the 'Performance'-tab, and it tells me-all kindza data but -no RAM. It says: Totals: Handles - 822_ Threads - 35_ Processes - 2_ Physical Memory (K) Total - 129520 Available - 441__ System Cache - 5____ Commit Charge (K) Total - 255___ Limit - 600980 Peak - 539596 Kernel Memory (K) Total - 31532 Paged - 27516 Nonpageed - 4016 (The underscores are frequently-changing digits.) I'm on Windows XP. How do I assign more memory to the available?
