Well what do you mean? I use both. One for movie's and one for data disk. dvd for movies r and rw..cd's for backing up data and saving info.like photo's etc.

I still use the Cd- RW as I do not own a dvr-rw drive as of yet but plan to in the future. I want to get a digital camera first and then either a new computer with the dvd drive or a separate drive to install.
