Hi there from Washington DC. I am waiting for the kids to wake up so we can have breakfast and check out. We've been here since Friday. Friday night we checked in and the clerk at the front desk said, "I bet you'll be happy to see your pillow". "Nope, I said, we're going out looking at monuments." Three hours later we had seen the White House, various government buildings, the World War II Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Washington Monument, and fireflies. The next day we monument walked the same route, but also saw the World War I Monument, the Vietnam War Monument, the Korean War Monument, the Martin Luther King Memorial, the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial and the Holocaust museum. Next day was the Natural History Museum, the Air and Space Museum and the Capitol. Went through a lot of moleskin. Maybe next time we'll take advantage of the buses. I'm pretty sure I didn't gain any weight though.

But think of all the street sights you would have missed.

You walked all that way? See, your legs are strong - this means you can skate I hope we can make it out that way to see the sights when the kids are a little older and can understand the significance of all the monuments and such there!

My balance isn't what it was, but I suspect it's more a matter of somebody showing me how, and practice.

You seem to have done so much site seeing in such a short time. Were you tired by all the walking? But as you say , the walking helped in reducing your weight,I am sure..

Tired and blistered, but it was worth it.
