Now, Lamby would think that 'Adult Colouring Books' are - er - rude and yes, there are a few rude ones out there..but I'd get bored with those, yes indeedy..so I buy the more 'conventional' ones instead. I'm starting to lose count as to how many books I possess, to be honest. I am seriously considering starting my own shop, obviously with books that haven't been coloured in yet lol. When my Dad was very poorly earlier on in the year it coincided with me receiving an email from The Book Depository (now owned by the Evil Amazon) and in that email it mentioned a very popular adult colouring book called 'The Secret Garden' by Johanna Basford. I couldn't believe my eyes as I always loved colouring books as a youngster (always had my pens in order in the display tin) so I bought the book..and yes, it did ease my anxiety as colouring in uses the left side of the brain. The more creative side. This is why I tend to 'switch off' whilst colouring. I can sit and colour whilst watching telly as well, which is great for John as I always have my back to him when I'm on the computer. Not ideal. I have also built up my pen/pencil collection over time. Currently, I have 5 furry panda pencil cases on the go! I tend to buy pens or pencils individually if I can. Derwent Coloursofts are my favourite pencils (and made in England, not that far from where I live) and Stabilos and AtYouSpica Glitter Pens are my favourite er..pens! It has been a revelation, actually, as to how much choice there is and I love to discover new pens or colouring books. The image is taken from my latest book, 'Creative Colouring for Grown-Ups - Vintage Patterns.' I love it!

You know... I haven't colored anything in ages. I did try mandalas once but they stressed me out if you can believe that! They are supposed to be relaxing but it didn't work at all.

I know what you mean about mandalas because I saw a book of thm when I visited a book shop the other day. They looked way too complicated if you ask me and I reckon I'd go cross-eyed after a while if I tried colouring them in. If I were you I'd go for patterns. The one I have mentioned above is full of them and none have given me a headache so far. Hope this helps!

I also love to color and I do have the pattern books-those are my favorite. Coloring relaxes me and keeps my mind occupied for a bit!

Hello there. Wow, I've not seen you for ages. How are you and your family? Well I hope. I know what you mean about colouring helping you to relax. It does that with me as well. All my books are varied so if I get a bit fed up with patterns or leaves I will change my book to buildings..yeh, 'buildings' lol. I'll colour anything given the chance!

I think adult coloring would be therapeutic. I can see how it would be a good way to quiet your mind and just let it wander. I have seen a few places on the internet where you can print an adult coloring page. ( lol, the whole adult coloring page thing sounds naughty but I really dont mean it that way). Sometimes its so tricky to quite your mind down before bed. I think I will print myself one and see if I sleep a little better tonight.

Yes, I have noticed a few on Pinterest although my printer paper isn't the greatest quality, to be honest. There are a few pocket-sized colouring books cropping up for those who are on the move a lot..maybe to use on trains, that type of thing? I actually find colouring in preferable to the internet, especially around bed-time. A new bed has helped as well. I go to bed at least an hour or an hour and a half earlier than I used to and I'm up earlier as well.

You should try it. There are books catering for all abilities as some people like elaborate mandalas to colour in and others prefer nature or animals.

Me too! My collection is ever growing and I recently found a fantastic Etsy store that sells a lot of truly beautiful Oriental books. I'm a colour pencil addict and could have cried when they stopped making Berol Karismas. Anyone who thinks it is juvenile or not creative couldn't be further from the truth.
