Appropriate Time for A Party?

Lubbock, Texas
August 17, 2015 10:28am CST
Yesterday my 11-year-old granddaughter informed me that she and her Mom had to cancel her shopping trip to buy school supplies because her Mom had misread an invitation for granddaughter to attend a birthday party. Time 10 to 12. Mom thought it was from 10 pm to 12 midnight instead of 10 am to noon. Really? Who gives a birthday party for 4th and 5th graders starting at 10 pm? To be fair I guess working 12 hr night shifts at the hospital and carrying a full load of courses to get her bachelor's degree in nursing can befuddle the mind of a 50 yr old woman, but. . .

hahha ,maybe you are thinking the time is a little awkward. cause you get a job anotherday, get an early sleep and rest insist. but get a party at night is a commond thing in China,, people like the night party then the morning party ,even it is summer, hot and shine outside,, get a night party seems more comfortable.

A common thing for 11 year olds? Glad I don't live in China if that's the case.

We will give her mom the benefit of the doubt for working and being tired, BUT you are right..common sense says 10am not 10pm..even a sleep over it wouldn't be right..good thing to list on invites for others though..Don't forget am and pm..

That would be a "tad" late, right? We went to a kids party last year that started at 8:30pm and we thought that was pretty late. My kids love parties - we would be the kind of people who would show up at such a party! But good thing your granddaughter caught the correct time!

Since I have a job, especially at my first job, when I was away the most of the day, my mind works a lot worse, so I make many confusions which I never made before.

I agree ten to midnight would be awful late for a party to take place.
