Over my job!

Ugh! Aug. has been by far the WORST month to be a server at my restaurant. Very slow....money has been up and down. I have been with my company for almost 10 years and while I have been loyal and it has kept a roof over my head and food on the table, it's just so much wear and tear on my body. And I'm not even 30 yet ugh! Just wish I had done fabulous in school and gotten an actual career. :sigh: OK /rant.

It's not too late to start thinking about other things you might want to do. You could take night courses, check out your local community college for certificate programs. Get a federal grant or federal student loan for a certificate program like cosmetology, etc. Check out those flyers that the local community college sends you.

Yes. Do not get me wrong. When it's season time, I make a killing. It's just summer is killing my bank account right now and making me miserable.

Have you a chance of internal promotion in your company, or will you always stay a server, which is a bit discouraging, although many servers like really their job ?

I could be a manger, but where I work, managers really don't make much so it wouldn't be worth the stress to get promoted. I'm sure it'll either get better, or I may have to look elsewhere. We shall see.
