Am I alone on this or you also cannot help it but spoil him ? Not 'rotten', mind you..... I try not to but I cannot stop pamper him and probably spoil him a little bit by buying him little things that please him. Someone told me "OF COURSE YOU HAVE TO SPOILHIM A BIT... IF YOU DON'T WHO WILL ??" Am I a weak father or is all this normal ?! Other fathers of 7, 8 or 9 year old boys step forward and tell me PLEASE.

I'm a mom, not a dad, but my opinion for what it's worth, there's nothing wrong with that. All kids need to be spoiled a little, and it's not a sign of weakness on your part. My dad used to bring me home a candy bar every night after work. Now, not sure of your situation, if you have him full time, part time, single parent or married. My story, my ex had 2 twins, they were 7 or so, boy and a girl. Those kids were so spoiled, and absolutely rotten on top of it. Whenever we went to the store, they'd just walk down the aisle buy me this, buy me that-and it was just junk stuff wasn't anything good, they basically wanted the whole store. This was because their mother would just give them whatever they wanted to shut them up. Just make sure your son understands that he may not get something every time you go to the store. I was lucky with my girls, sometimes they'd ask for something, if I could afford it I would buy it for them(within reasonable price range), but if I couldn't afford they understood and gave me no grief about it(attitude, temper tantrums). At least I did something right lol....
