Did you ever get disappointed by something you bought online?

Seven years ago when I was new to online money making I found a site about online surveys. It said that you could buy a list of the best survey sites. The list was expensive, but I paid for it anyway, and I was extremely disappointed when I received it. The list was full of dead links and most of the sites weren't even related to online survey sites. It was a complete waste of money. It wasn't even neccesary to buy a list when I could find the same information through Google, but I didn't think about that 7 years ago.

Luckily, I never invested in any scam. The only time I invested in one product was a cell phone from eBay. And that was a horrible purchase. I got the handset at a much cheaper price no doubt, but the piece I received was a defective one. I tried all I could to get it replaced or refunded, but at the end of it, nothing much happened. Since that day, I have never thought of purchasing item anything online. However, I do purchase Domains, Hosting and also other items on the Internet related to my work as a Website Developer - for my clients and even me. I believe I follow the lot around and opt for only trusted websites when making such purchases.

Your experience with the cell phone sounds frustrating especially because you couldn't get it replaced or refunded. I have sometimes looked at the things that people sell on eBay, but I have never bought anything. I have only used the online shops that sell new things.

I don't remember getting disappointed. I don't have much online shopping experience, and mostly I bought books online, from book depository. I am happy with the books I have received so far. Lately, I bought some yarns online, and I think they are good. I try to buy things from online shops which have good reputation. I think we are always learning, good to learn from our own or others' mistakes. Thanks for sharing your experience too.

It is nice that you are happy with the things that you have bought online. I also buy books online. In the past I always bought book offline, but today I think that it is much easier to use online shops. It is also easy to compare the prices before I buy something. Yes, it is a good thing to learn from our mistakes and the mistakes that other people have made. I wasted some money when I bought that list, but I am not going to make the same mistake again.

@Porcospino I actually prefer to buy books offline if I can, as the shipping fee is very expensive for us. Sometimes the shipping cost can be more expensive than the book itself. But there are many books we just can't have them locally, so I have to get it from overseas. The reason I like to buy books from book depository is because of the free shipping worldwide, though the price is slightly higher than Amazon. If shipping cost is not a concern, I'd prefer to buy things online. It saves so much hassle to go shopping physically. I don't really like to go shopping.

@kaka135 Yes, we have to think about the shipping fee when we buy things online. I prefer to use online shops within the European Union, because there are no customs duties, and shipping is less expensive. There are many books that we (the Danes) can't buy in the offline shops, and if I want those books I have to buy them in an online shop.

mine was a skirt on sale at LandsEnd and after I washed it it had five good sized holes in it as if there was some chemical int he fabric that when inhot water was corrosive to the fabric. I emailed them ti cost more to return the skirt then I had paid for it so wore it for a long times as the holes looked like a pattern and everyone oohed and aahed about the cute skirt lol

It is annoying when that happens. I understand that you chose to keep the skirt. When it costs more to send it back than you paid for it there isn't much point in sending it back. The same thing happened to me once. I bought a black cardigan online and after I washed it there was a big hole in it.

What you went through is truly disappointing. In my case sometimes I get items that need replacement and they do replace or refund the money.
