Tv versus internet

Yesterday we cancelled our tv subscription. Our budget is really tight at the moment, and we are cutting back on our expenses. I am not going to miss the tv much. We can watch live tv on our laptops and we are also able to watch news, tv shows, documentaries etc on the websites that belong to the Danish channels. Some of those sites are ad-based and we can watch programmes for free. One of the main channels has digitized many old programs, and it is fun to watch tv shows and documentaries from the past. Do you watch tv? Or do you use the internet instead? Which online news or video sites do you use?

Internet today, is far, far more interesting than TV. The net offers you a far wider choice than anything that the telly could come up with. Though it has its limitations.

I agree with that. I don't miss our tv, but I know that I would miss the internet. There are so many types of sites and types of entertainment online, and it is always possible to find something interesting.

@Porcospino The inter-activity you get on the net, makes it unique, with TV it is a one way communication.

I only watch television on the computer when I miss it when it airs on the television. I don't think I could do without either one. I told my husband to cancel the land line if he wanted to save money but he hasn't done it. He says it's the lowest bill of them all.

@Porcospino Recently my husband cancelled some channels (to save money) and most of us have complained because we get no sports whatsoever. We like hockey and soccer. He likes golf but they air that on network television.

We cancelled our land line a long time ago. We only have our cell phones now, but we don't miss the land line. I don't think that I am going to miss our tv much, because we only had a few channels.

I watch tv while I am in here as it passes the time. I do live alone, and if I had a family, that might be different. I do watch tv shows on netflix as well.

I understand what you mean. We used to have Netflix, too, but we had to cancel that one as well. Now we borrow movies and tv shows at the library

We dont have a Television set at our place. The biggest reason for not having is the addiction it brings with it. My wife sill start spending endless hours watching those horrible soaps and I would want to watch every movie on HBO. And we cannot have two televisions. So fights are inevitable For the sake of peace and harmony, we decided not to have any at home Another valid point - all we watch is episodes of one specific standup comedy - and we have internet where we get to watch it for free. However, at times I wish they also had Nick - India (a cartoon Channel) aired or even the episodes of my favorite on You Tube.

It sounds like a good decision to avoid a tv My husband and I disagrees as well. He wants to watch sports and I want to watch soaps. Now we don't have a tv anymore, so there is nothing to argue about I am not going to miss it much. I am able to watch live tv on my laptop, and I have access to old tv shows etc as well.

I watch tv rarely. I have also about 200 streamed channels coming with my internet subscription (it is a package with internet and fixed phone, and it is impossible to not take the tv option), I am mainly interested by foreign channels, as the quality is not very good on my laptop and I prefer to watch my national channels on my tv, but most of the time, the channel that I would like to watch does not work.

The same kind of packages exist in Denmark, but my husband and I had a separate tv subscription, so it was easy to cancel it. It must be annoying that your channels don't work most of the time. We had some problems with one of the Danish channels, sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't work.

@Porcospino 3/4 major internet providers are forcing us to take the tv package with an internet box, and I don't trust a lot the fourth, as it seems to have difficulties (they have refused a purchase offer this year). French and European channels are working fine, but the only US channel always working is Disney Channel, and it is not my preferred one.

I mainly watch TV, though I do watch short videos on YouTube sometimes. My internet connection is still too slow to watch long movies.

We used to have the same problem when we lived in a village. Now we have a faster internet connection, and we are able to watch movies.

@Porcospino The speed of mine has been increased recently so hopefully there will be more improvements in future.

I would definitely choose Internet over TV any day! First, the Internet doesn't just have shows and movies to watch, it also has PEOPLE. You get to interact on social media, browse the latest gossip and news, read up on interesting and groundbreaking subjects, and so much more on the web. Plus, the Internet has funny cat videos. I would recommend Couch Tuner as a website to use for watching virtually any TV show out there. I would recommend fmovief.net as a website to use for watching just about any movie. Honestly, I don't pay TV any more because I can just watch anything I want and then some on the Internet. Thank goodness for the World Wide Web!
