Travelling around the world

Some of you might remember my post yesterday about forgetting topics you have in your mind. Here it is, my forgotten topic. After a bunch of hours trying to remember the post I wanted to make, here it is. I have always traveled a lot. Luckily, my parents have taken me to a lot of places and installed on me the urge of traveling. I am only 21 years old and I have already visited a lot of cities around Europe. Still, there are many places I would like to see. I've never been to Asia or to America and there so many different things I would like to see there. I want to visit USA, the Caribbean, Brazil, India, Japan, Thailand and many more places. So I will start a challenge here on myLot. What if everyone could lend a sofa for a few days to another myLot member it would be amazing. Imagine how many places I could visit just paying the trip and not the housing. There are certainly members from all places around the world. Do you accept this challenge?

Hooray! You remembered! Unfortunately I am living in a motel at the moment so I cannot accept this challenge. This is a really neat idea though. I live in the USA, but I'd love to see the Caribbean and Brazil!

@fufurinha I am not sure. I don't know too much about Portugal. You live there, right? How is it there? Tell me about it.

I am thinking at something like this. I am moving in a large house with four floors (475 m2, it is a bit too large for somebody alone) and I want to keep a floor to have an independent apartment for friends (in real life or at myLot) and eventually also to exchange it for holidays. Not sure if it will be ready for next summer (the craftsmen are working on the part of the house that I will occupy myself now), but it is in project in my mind.

That would be nice to do, I'm currently in the USA however this is my last few days here and I don't think I will be back with the way things are right now. I go back to the UK but have nowhere to go, I gave up everything to be here with my partner last year. I guest you've been tot he UK already.

Oohh that would be really nice, and I would do it if I could, but I live with my parents(I am only 19y old), and they won't probably agree with that, but that's a cool thing to do. I don't think it's a challenge, but a really good way of approaching ourselves, people from mylot!

I couldn't let a good girl like you stay in my place. It seriously needs to be cleaned up! I had a friend I made online that was into traveling like you and she traveled from Estonia and through the US. On her way through I let her stay at my apartment. It only had the bed so I slept on the floor. She stayed for a week and we went all around the area, exploring caves and museums. It was a lot of fun. I live in a fairly boring place now, so there wouldn't be much to see here, unless you like small towns and farms.

@fufurinha I live in a part of Pennsylvania called 'The Wilds' because there isn't much here. Although there are local ruins of a dam several miles away that caused a huge flood long ago, and the remains of a railroad bridge that was the highest in the world when it was built in 1882. To give an example of how wild the area is, there was a flock of turkeys in my front yard this morning.

As cool as that idea sounds, it could be dangerous, because honestly you just don't know who people are anymore. Not to mention I couldn't do it anyway as I'm living with my mom currently. Not to mentions there isn't much in my area most people would want to see lol. I live near Toledo in Ohio. I haven't traveled much myself, even though I'd love to. I would like to travel the US more before traveling out of country. Eventually I'd like to venture my way to Europe. I'd be afraid to travel to a few countries now for various reasons. Between natural disasters and war.

@fufurinha You're right, we can't always live in fear, but I'm not going to take a risk like that with my family, I'm a mom first, so everything I do I have to think about my child first. I believe there are a lot of great people in the world, but I can't take the risk that some are not who they say they are. As much as I'd love to travel, for me my child is my number one priority. Also while couches are free, hostels aren't too expensive and would save some money if you can't find somewhere free to stay. It all comes down to the kind of risks you're willing to take. If it were just me I'd probably be more open to it. I want my child to see the world, and to learn to take some risks, but I also need him to understand that sometimes some risks are too great to take, especially when you have a child involved. Even if I left him while I traveled, which some parents do, I don't think I could, and if something happened to me I don't know what would happen to him for sure. That scares me. Besides I'd have to let someone crash on my couch too, so he would be there unless I sent him elsewhere, which again is not something I'm comfortable with. I guess if I travel I'm just going to have to do it the expensive way.

Oh I was juuuust going to post a post about traveling but from a slightly different angle. There are certainly advantages in terms of accommodation costs if you stay at someone's place. I stayed at a friend's house when I went to Istanbul for the first time and it really helped me save a lot.

Of course and we already do this. My daughter in-law breeds small dogs and a friend of hers that I also know was going to a dog show up this way and we invited her to stay with us for the night. She has larger dogs so she came to my house and her dogs and mine played outside with each other. We have a couch that pulls out into a bed for times like this. She thanked us and said she had a great time. So glad you finally remimbered what you wanted to say on here.

It is a great idea, but I can't accept the challenge at the moment. We are renovating our house right now and we have no furniture in most of the rooms. We don't have much to offer... unless you want to sleep directly on the floor without a mattress
