Competing with yourself

I discovered something last night. If you want your posts to get any attention you should not compete with yourself. I could not be on here very much yesterday, and at the end of the day I started two discussions one right after the other. What seems to happen when you do that is one gets attention and the other does not. I hope my discussions are far enough apart to let them both get followers. I also did not take time to suggest last night, and probably will not tonight either. So, if you are here for interaction, or here for the money, either way you need to take care of your discussions. Give them space in between posting. Respond to the comments, Suggest them to interested friends. I hope you have fun and do not have any discussion languishing with no attention.

Good advice here! It's not good to flood the pages with one discussion after the other.

There is more here than just posting discussions one after another. It is the time zone factor I think. I do not depend on suggested posts but go to 'people' and 'explore' I get to see your posts and I respond to them but you don't and I know you are not the kind that will ignore. So why is it that I do not see you in my posts.I had suggested a post just to see and you responded. If we are going to suggest what is the purpose of 'people' and 'explore. I wrote a poem I received just one response and yet there was another user who got more than 20. for the poem that was posted. Does not mean my poem is not worth it? This is not a level playing field and I feel very sad about it. Did you not come across this post in 'people'?

I was one who did not always go through all of the suggestions. I usually do Explore, and I have learned to go from the "interesting" tab to others. I like that it is never really too late to visit a post. I am here on this one because two months after I posted it, I have a new response and it is at a time when I am visiting the site for a while.

@GardenGerty What I meant to say was it has nothing to do with how close together a discussion is posted but its visibility to the community. I still think in my case it is the time zone factor as when you look at people and explore you will only see my posts if you keep going down which mostly users do not do. But I have accepted this situation though not happily.

I have a pretty full schedule, so I only do what I can and don't push myself to do any more than that. My time is usually limited to a few minutes in the mornings, and if I'm lucky I might have a few minutes in the afternoon too. I don't seem to have to worry too much about my discussions. I'm not getting many responses to most of them. It's really sad!

I am afraid my poor old brain would not be able to come up with that many posts. You are good to visit with.

I know I had a discussion fall on its face last night. Our timing, yours and mine must be interesting. Is it early morning for you? I am headed to bed.

It's true that if people post closely together I'll only read one, as there are so many other people to get round . We haven't got time to read everything. Though I might go back later to the one I missed.

Whether I go to others or more than one discussion depends on whether or not the first one I read is interesting. I do a lot of reading of suggestions and exploring.

I try not to post discussions 1 right after the other because you are most likely right that 1 will be ignored while the other gets all the attention. I guess it's a good thing I have decided to wait to have a 2nd child so that way my son gets all the attention he needs right now.

My children were almost exactly three years apart. My grandkids were as well until there was a surprise. I think people who post several discussions in rapid sequence are often looked at as people who only take and do not give.

@GardenGerty Or that they are trying too hard or are attention seekers which can be the case for some, but not all.

@DanieGirl80587 The one I am thinking of particularly today is trying too hard.

This is an old rules I also applied on the other site. Never post two articles (discussions), one after another. We need to space them to get attention.
