What Would You Do....?

You buy a family member a nice gift for Christmas. They open it and they say something sarcastic like, "oh, just what we need, more knick-knacks to dust", or something like that. Then, six months later they invite you over to their yard sale and guess what you see on a table in their front yard with a price tag on it? Yup. That happened to me two Christmases ago and I got spoutin' mad over it. So, the next year I gave them a houseplant that I grew myself...totally free gift so I didn't waste money on them. Now Christmas approaches stealthily again. This year....Ugh. Not sure what to do. What would YOU all do in a case like this? Give a gift or not give a gift? Right now I'm leanin' more toward the NOT side of the equation. Bwa-hahahaaaaaa!

I think cake or any food they really crave for is an ideal gift for Christmas because I am sure they are going to like it.

There you go. That sounds like an ideal gift...except that the husband is a very fussy eater...Hmm. I would have to find out what kind of stuff he likes, I guess.

@flippish2014 Hmm. Not even sure if they drink. Possible though. Thanks.

Gift cards. To coffee shops. Nothing nice. Maybe the Fruit of the Month club.

The plant idea was genius. They'd get a homegrown plant from me every year!

I would say food or drink of some sort - they can't put that in a yard sale.

I would probably go with not getting them a gift at all since they are so unappreciative.

That is a possibility, since they gave us one to a restaurant one year. I will consider that idea too!
