Since I read that some criminals sentenced for life are receiving love letters and proposal of marriage from unknown women, I suppose that some women are attracted by really bad guys.

and don't you think those women have some mental issues?

@swissheart I am not a bad guy, so I have no chance to make an opinion about that. An old college friend who teaches criminal sciences says that these women are victims of "the Hannibal Lecter syndrome".

@topffer but I don';t understand how you could feel attracted to a man who has a background of abuse behavior

Um, it depends. I'd like to say no... and I wouldn't date someone who was currently in jail... but if it were someone who had been in jail previously and were rehabilitated and had learned their lesson. I do believe people deserve a second chance if they've really, truly changed. Also, what if my husband were to go to jail? I would not automatically leave him unless his crime were a nasty one... so I'd be a hippocrit if I said I'd never date someone in jail and then my husband went to jail and I stayed with him.

@swissheart I'm not the type who likes bad boys, so if I liked him that would be proof enough for me that he had changed.

and what proof would you have that he really learned somthing( if your partner previously went to jail) and would convince you to date him

My husband was released from prison in 1994, we met in 2001. His crime happened long before he met me, he did his time and has stayed out of trouble. He has held a full-time job since being released. I may have felt differently if his crime had been of a violent nature, but it wasn't. I can't imagine my life without him.

but what if your boyfriend got convicted for some reason. would you still continue to be with him or would you leave him in this case?
