Do you always write what's true?

Sometimes I come on here and post something and I either don't come out and state my position, or I ask for an opinion even though I've already made up my mind/taken action. A lot of times, I just want to see what people say. Sometimes I get new ideas, or see the other side of a position. Sometimes I actually learn something. Do you always come straight out with what you think and believe, or do you sometimes not?

I don't start often serious discussions, but I tell my opinion if I have one, and I may change it if somebody manages to convince me that I am wrong.

@topffer Oh not only the ones about phones - in general, your discussions are informative. Yes, I have not been starting too many discussions here. earlier there were not too many friends around, and then I got a little busy. I hope to become a little more active coming month

I do like your discussions. That is a different thing that I understand only some of them, but they are always informative

@thesids Lol, you are speaking of my discussions about phones ? They were too technical for myLot and I should not have started them here. Some have not yet received any response, but I have still a hope. I also like your discussions, but they have been rare this month.

I do state my opinion. I don't like posts that just ask a question, with no input from the poster at all. Surely it's not hard to add a few lines stating their own stance.

@jaboUK I find that when I state my position up front, I get a bunch of responses from people who agree with me, and the rest avoid the discussion. Not always, but frequently. If I don't state a position, sometimes I get a better discussion.

Butt, butt, butt @jabo, how much more can a person say about a picture of their furbaby? K, you know there's only so much anyone can say about furbabies, right?

@dawnald That's interesting, I didn't realise that that might happen.

I always write the truth from my perspective. I sometimes stay away from controversial issues depending on how a conversation is going, or who might be a part of the conversation, whether online or in person. Some people can't understand a different point of view.

Can't understand or won't accept... One person over on Bubblews, very interesting poster, but totally different beliefs as mine, actually would delete people who disagreed with her, even if they did so politely. She just didn't want to deal with it.

On most of my interactions there is not much serious thing going on. I prefer things light here and enjoy myself. But I do post everything sincerely and to the best of my knowledge, sometimes even in the lines of how I see the things. I always believe the knowledge is endless and it can grow only when you share, read and discuss. So definitely on some discussions, I try putting my belief, my understanding of the thing and when someone replies, I try rationalizing and understanding his/her perspectives too

I don't always post what I believe, as I want to get other people's opinions first. One thing I find is that if I post my opinion, I mostly get responders who come on and agree with me, but if I'm neutral I get different points of view, which is more interesting.

@dawnald I have observed this for sure. When you start off with an opinion, many would simply agree.

I don't bother stating my beliefs, it'd rub some people the wrong way and I really wouldn't wanna do that. But story telling can be fun and entertaining but I've not learned to do that yet, I'm workin on it though.

i hold back on detailed identities, but that doesn't make what i share less true or less real. when looking for topics, i prefer the starter to share their position or intention or purpose, not just fire off a series of questions. most discussions i see end with a question. sometimes i would answer it with a question. because mylot trained me to read responses and comments first before adding my own, yes, i always learn something in the process.

@hereandthere I respond first, but then I do sometimes find out later that if I had read the comments, it would have addressed some of what I said. Don't always have the time to read them all though.

@thesids some respond first because they don't want to lose their train of thought. then, they read the rest of the responses and comments and participate in them, which is great too. i spend more time reading and liking and learning, actually.

I do. I'm not good at making things up, I guess that's why I can't be a good creative writer. If I write something, it's either based on my actual thoughts or things that I find interesting to share with others.

Sort of depends on your objective too. If you're ranting, you're going to come straight out about it, but if you're trying to see what people's opinions are, you might hold back more.

I always share my perspective truthfully. And I do apologize sometimes to those whom I don't always agree with here, but still I respect their opinions. Though there are topics where I just know that if I share my beliefs and opinions about this, I will be causing some conflicts, so I just tend to avoid them.

I often hold back, as I find that people feel freer to express their opinions. If I come straight out and say what I believe, I am more likely to get responses that agree with me.

Hmmm. I don't think whatever we write is not always true. Sometime it is inspired by the situation around us but sometimes its just a result of our imagination. The best example is poetry. Where 90 percent is work of fiction and imaginery...Still it connects to all just because it fills emotions in it... So don't look for true...but definetly for something which you can attache emotionally... :)

True, but I wasn't really thinking of fiction when I asked the question.

I usually do because I'm the type of person who thinks my opinion/view should be heard and believed, LOL. I guess if it's something I'm really unsure of or don't have an opinion on, but in cases like that I probably wouldn't even really get involved in a conversation about it. The only way I wouldn't have an opinion of something is if I were unfamiliar with it so then I just don't really know enough to be part of a conversation.

And judging from the one response on my other discussion, here again is proof that discussions about discussions get more responses. lol

When I think about a problem, yes, but since the suggestion is spontaneous, it may not always be well thought out. When I come up with a post of mine, I would have spent some thinking hours on it. As to writing what is true, pretty much. Sometimes though there are situations when what I write becomes slightly untrue because subsequently unfolding events. Then it becomes my duty to search the post, and correct it, but I don't because it is too much of an effort. To that extent, what I write here, may be false at times.

I think it's hard to post that's totally a lie. For me talking is different from writing. Come to think of it, when you post a topic, it usually comes from what you think or what you feel. Unlike when you talk to someone, lies comes so easily and I wonder why..

I always try to stick to reality, so it doesn't feel so heavy to believe myself or what I think about a situation. But we are all humans after all ,so sometimes we need other's opinions and suggestions so that we become aware of things which we are ignorant to...
