Just talking to my granddaughter and ....

she was telling how cute my great grandson is now. He is in kindergarten and she says he is so cute with his backpack and bringing home homework. Ahhh! I remember when she was that age. She didn't have to go to kindergarten. She was given a test to see if she needed to and she scored clear off of the graph. She was also in the Gifted and Talented class while in grade school. She was a great kid up until she was about 13 or so. She is bi-polar and had behavioral issues. And I had guardianship of her. How about you? You have good kids who suddenly with teen age they changed on you? Or have they been about the same all through the years?

I think I'm in this category! LOL! Started really early in school, I was four then. Went through grades 4, 5, and 6 in two years. Was 10 years old when I started in high school. Graduated from college when I was only 18 years old. I was getting into trouble in high school and college but still managed to graduate on time.

You were very fortunate then that even getting into trouble you were able to graduate. I imagine it was hard to be so young among all the older children.

I don't have any kids yet but I know that I'll never leave my kid's side no matter what they become when teens. Their age doesn't matter, you are always the guardian. You always have to be there to show the way of right and wrong and be their pillar for support.

Very true no matter what we need to be there for our children to show them the right way and be their pillar of support.

I have never had children and often wonder how different life may have been if I had.

My son is a saint considering his health conditions. He has never given me any trouble or got in trouble either.

@Marcyaz It is a blessing Marcy..and I am not bragging about it because anyone can be in the wrong place at the wrong time, so I just consider it also the grace of God.

I have no children, but my brother, who is very intelligent and was really kind until the age of about 18, is bipolar and from that age he has also behavioral issues.

@LadyDuck ...My daughter is bi-polar. She was misdiagnosed. But when she was finally diagnosed correctly and found the right meds she is fine now.

@Marcyaz He is a doctor! I believe that he can accept to talk with colleagues about his problem, but not to see a specialist.

Our son is on the autistic spectrum and had a terrible time at school, mostly because the staff did not have the skills to cope with someone who did not fit the mould. As a result he had precious little education from school but a great deal from what he picked up for himself from books and the Internet. He is now 22, does not have a single paper qualification despite his high intelligence, but has turned out just fine as a human being. I'm sure that he will make a success of his life just as long as people are prepared to let him do things his way. School just doesn't work for some people, and it is a mistake for governments to think that it does.

Kids that our autistic are so misunderstood and no school is not for all kids. I am sure he is a fine human being and in time will find his way in life.

Mine were just what you would call normal a few problems but nothing major. I am so glad they have all turned out so well not like some of their friends who were always in and out of trouble or had to get married.

Both of my kids did go through a period in their teens when they were a little hard to get along with. My daughter was the worst.

@simone10 That could be but my brother had girls and his girls were such a handful especially when they were in their teenage years where my boys were not like that. So I do think it is girl who are harder to raise.

OH boy yes, My daughter was an angel up to 13 when she suddenly became a hells angel and then by 19 returned to being an angel again! You could set your diary by her monthly moods and strops. She is now thankfully a wonderful and beautiful person with her own children and I can see the same behaviour in her own daughter! Haha history repeating itself!
