Laptop

Recently as in today, I got a new laptop from my mom for helping her move across country and I gave her my phone she really wanted as well along with some other help. Anyways it is an Acer, I hope it will work okay for what I need it for (IE WORK ONLINE). My mom had an Acer before and it didn't work well, so I'm a bit skeptical, hopefully it will work out better than I think anyways. If you could choose, what sort of laptop would you get and why would that be the kind you want? Mine is used only for work and a little bit of gaming but that is about it.

Aceris quite a respectable make and should be more than adequate for your needs. Especially if you only want it for internet and office applications. My own laptop is a Sony Vaio, which is actually a far higher specification than I actually need because I have a top of the range desktop computer. I do spend a lot of time on my computers, so I tend to be greedy and but the best.

Interesting, I'll be using it for a game called Second life. I have used it already on there and it seems okay so far, we'll see though.

@nafretiti I have no idea what Second Life is because I have never been really interested with computer games, but some can be rather demanding on system resources. As long as the game run okay then you are not likely to have any problems because internet and office suites use very little. Even the most basic computer manufactured these days will handle those quite comfortably.

@Asylum Its a game with a lot of graphics, avatars etc. It is a bit demanding but the basic types of computers wouldn't be able to handle that , skype and a web browser :)

I like my desktop, its no brand because hubby built it, so I'd have a way better pc for much less money, like 1.5k vs 5k, anyways, in a laptop I'd just want silly game and net usage, so just about anything cheap would work for me.

Ugh Dell is horrid, my friend had both a desk top and a laptop of the Dell brand and they both fried on her within a month and I know she wasn't doing anything bad, I'd stay far far away from Dell.
