Do You Resist Cleaning Up the Dishes at Night or Some Other Chore?

It's becoming a very bad habit. I have a pile of dishes that need to be washed. Truth be told it will take me about 15 minutes. I have been thinking about it for about 90 minutes. Really most of the afternoon. I have been doing everything else, but them. This is happening almost every night now. I can just see me walking into a psychaitrist's office and asking what deep-seated is causing this new found aversion. I should probably just stop writing this and do it and examine my feelings while I accomplish the task. I'm not the best housekeeper, but this is ridiculous. Does anyone else have tasks like this that you just don't want to do?

I keep my kitchen and living room very clean and hate clutter... In public rooms. My room however, has a ton of clutter and junk on the floor. For whatever reason, i find it hard to motivate myself to clean it. I clean my hallways and vacuum the stairs frequently , and I could EASILY just do my room afterwards. But I always get the "I'll do it later" feeling and that's that.

I am in the process of cleaning out our house a little at a time. I think less stuff will make the house look better when it's clean.

Sometimes I do not like to move from in front of the computer to do anything.

I know, I always rationalize that I work online, so I can focus on that and ignore other stuff.

Ah... I resist cleaning most of the time. But as for dishes i will not tolerate it unless I am gonna be late for work. Which reminds me, I should stop myLotting and start sleeping so I won't be late later! Sleeping late is my worst habit, I wonder when i'll decide to lose it.

@NeldaHoxie Wish I could stop my sleep deprivation... I think it's kind of my addiction now. If there is such a thing. Or maybe a disease. Heck, I will stop doing it one of these days before I get really sick.

I am only the one who do the dishes everyday.Though I hate doing it,I am still doing it for no one in the house will do it. Besides,I don't want to see a file of dishes in the kitchen.I am kinda used to it. While doing the laundry is what I hated most.I always have a back ache whenever I do it.

I know what you mean. I have hurt my back doing both laundry and the dishes.

My dishes are done and the kitchen cleaned as soon as dinner is over. Chores I don't ant to do - sure I have a long list and my husband does them for me.

@NeldaHoxie You need 'rent a husband' to fill in.

Unfortunately my husband is out to sea for months at time, so that strategy won't work in our house.

I hate the thought of germs growing, so I am usually quite tidy in the kitchen and bathroom.

Yeah I'm guilty of that. After I do what is necessary, such as making dinner, I really just want to relax and not have to clean up after dinner. I try to get the kids to help out when they're around.. they don't do a great job, but they'll do the dishes grudgingly... but not everyday or as well as I'd like. I wish I had a dishwasher again, that would make things easier!

I have never had a dishwasher. It's one of those things I would enjoy.

Think about how good you will feel once it's done and JUST DO IT.

I have a real phobia about washing dishes in the evening, but I do this annoying chore every evening after dinner because I hate myself if I found dishes in the sink in the morning.

@NeldaHoxie I even clean the kitchen after the party of the last day of the year. I want to sleep well the first night of the new year.

I actually have a hard time sleeping if my dishes aren't done. I hate waking up to a dirty sink too.

Haha, yeah all the time. Dishes is definitely one of them. I'm one of those people who can't go to sleep peacefully knowing I have a pile of dishes waiting in the sink, but sometimes sleep wins the battle.

Sometimes I do fall asleep on the couch before I do the dishes and then I just go off to bed. Of course I hate myself in the morning!

yeah I do that sometimes, and realized I spent more time thinking about how much I didn't want to do something, rather than just doing it.

That's the really frustrating thing. The amount of energy I waste thinking about it.

Lucky for me I have a dishwasher and just rinse and put them in it so I don't have to worry about leaving dishes in the sink

You have to force yourself until it becomes a habit. Chores that are boring need a bit of prodding I think.

I used to let the dishes pile up because I didn't care to do them lol. Now I usually try to clean them and put them in the dishwasher as soon as I'm through.

I hate to wake up to a sink full of dishes. Like you I sometimes don't want to do certain chores. I just make myself.

I hate doing the litter boxes at night. But I have to do it. I love having my dishwasher in my new apartment--I hate doing it by hand at my old place. Took up too much time IMO. I hate cleaning period, but I have to do it, too.
