Hand Wash or Dishwasher?

Which do you prefer? I personally do both. I tend to scrub all my dishes with soap and water BEOFRE I put them in the dishwasher. I always imagine bits of food and sauces being sprayed around by the dishwasher if I don't 'clean' the dishes first.

I never had a dishwasher. We want to do it manually.

We didn't have a dishwasher until I was in my late teens. We hated having to wash dishes by hand so my brothers and sisters and I saved up to buy a dishwasher ourselves. :-)

90 percent of things go in the dishwasher, but I won't put pots/pans in there.

@SandyElise It dullls the finish and makes them look old way before their time. Besides, I have enough dishes to only run the dishwaster every other day, but I only have enough pots/pans for one day.

@AbbyGreenhill I had no idea the dishwasher dulls the pots and pans! Wow!

Why not pots and pans?

Handwash indeed. With items like the pressure cooker a dishwasher cannot clean it. Also I am not quite happy about the dishwasher rinsing the vessels only twice.

There are models that offer more than one rise. Although one is sufficient.

How often do you rinse them when hand washing?

I prefer hand wash - it feels cleaner... The apartment we used to rent was equipped with a brand new dishwasher and we never wanted to use it.

I like being able to scrutinize the dish to make sure I get it completely clean instead of just hoping the dishwasher knocks then food or residue off.

There used to be six people in my house so the dishes have never taken only minutes to do, but I still prefer hand washing my dishes before the dishwasher.

Our unit wasn't equipped with a dishwasher and we've been doing okay not having one, even when having guests over and all. I probably wouldn't need to use it much if we have one anyway - I just prefer hand washing the dishes. Like @sishy7 said it just feels cleaner.

I think that's why I hand wash the dishes first. I don't trust cleaning solely by dishwasher.

I never wanted a dishwasher, so it is hand washed for me.
