I Hate Saying Goodbye!

West Haven, Connecticut

Im getting ready now to pick up my Grandmother from my apartment and take her to the airport, and the hardest part for me is saying Goodbye. We always get emotional and tear for a bit especially when she is hugging my kids and crying at the same time. My grandmother spent an amazing 4 days with us and she leaves to Ny on a 2 pm flight. Why is it soo hard to say goodbye to someone you really love and care for? I honestly dont like goodbyes, I prefer to say see you soon.

I suppose as we all get older there is always the thought in the back of our minds that time may be running out so saying goodbye gets harder. Both of my parents are in their 80s and live about 150 miles from me. It gets harder to return home each time I visit because I just never know what might happen before I get the chance to visit again.

It's never easy saying goodbye, for one reason or another. Hopefully, she'll be back soon.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX at least, you'll see her fairly soon, although I know it may not seem like soon enough.

That's the emotional love . 'will be back soon' is the better option

It is hard, I know when my uncle was here, I figured it would be the last time I would see him, unless I go there, which I am not traveling right now.

Of course you get emotional. You are a loving person. Goodbyes are so hard. "Till we meet again."

A visit from a family member that does not live near by is always hard to say goodbye to. I am glad you were able to spend some time with your grandmother.

I hear you on this. But you can always take a trip to NY to see your grandmother. And there is always FaceTime if you have an iPhone. You will see her soon. And the older people do seem to get more emotional than we do.

"See you soon" is good. Just remember the good time you had with your grandmother and the wonderful memories your kids will have with her. Yes, it's hard. I miss my grandparents, too. They've been gone a long time, but they gave me many happy memories as a kid and I'll always be grateful for that.

My mom prefer the phrase, see you later. At least, you will be able to see her again next year.
