Isn't It Always the Way

Have you ever noticed that when something important is about to happen, and you need to be at your best, something happens to sabotage it. That's where I'm at today. I have glaucoma and need to have my eye pressures tested every six months. Today is the day of my appointment. But, I didn't sleep well last night, thanks to both the wind and Smooch the Cat. On top of that the Spring pollen is making my eyes dry, red and itchy. These things shouldn't actually affect the eye pressure, but are definitely annoying. Do little things like this get sent to challenge you at the worst possible times?

All the time Val. I had guests last Wednesday and I really did not feel well, tired with a bad headache, but I had to go out with them. My glaucoma check is the next 25th of November, I am already stressed.

Mine went really well Anna, pressures down from six months ago. Hope yours does too.

@LadyDuck please let me know how you get on when the time comes. I have a friend here I call my "eye friend" - we compare eye pressures!

@valmnz I am glad for you Val. I do not know, I had laser surgery, but it seems it did not help a lot. I cross my fingers.

yep, if I am late I drop everything, get food on me, and hit every red light. or something. take a long moment and just breathe! it will get better, once Murphy moves on to a new victim

Glaucoma is not to be taken lightly and I hope you will give it top priority. It takes turns - sometimes great things happen in a row and so too harrowing things as you have pointed out - that is life.

I've had my glaucoma for at least 15 years and have had some serious moments, which eventually resulted in some tweaking surgery, along with all the lasers in the early days. I definitely take it seriously as I came close to losing my sight initially. Fortunately today my pressures were down.

I can't recall specific incidents but sure, they have happened to me in the past. My younger sister has glaucoma too, she also has regular appointments.

It is important to have regular checks in case their are any changes.

Oh yes. It seems to me that "when it rains, it pours," so to speak.

That's probably why it has rained non-stop today

Definitely! I have a lot of big problems that I'm dealing with, then little ones pop up and nearly drive me over the edge, because I have to drop everything else to fix the small ones, before they become big ones too. Today it was a screwdriver in my tire. Actually, it's a rental, and the people are really nice. Last week someone on a bike ran into the car and caused minor damage, and I felt horrible (insurance will cover it). Then this! Trying to find the exact same tire somewhere so I don't cause them added stress lol. I hope that you have a good day and your pressures are good. :)

I wonder if these things really happen at the most inconvenient times or if every day is a mine field and we just happen to notice them more when they coincide with something important.

I'm actually inclined to agree with your last statement, it's when they matter we notice them.

I'm probably the same. It's as if to say, why should life be cruisy, let's see what you're made of!

Thanks Marie. The eyes are mostly under control these days, but I am aware enough of the consequences to make sure I have my regular checks. Haven't been yet

I'm only going to the optometrist this morning, rather than the ophthalmologist. He's a darling young man, but very good, and always brightens my day!

Annoying, but it does seem to be the way of life.
