But it's healthy for you

This guy I work with loves to tell us what we should eat. He's really into healthy foods and is always lecturing us about what is healthy and what isn't. He's totally against sugars, which my other coworker and I seem to live on. Whenever we get into conversations about food, eventually one of us will touch on a food we don't like, and will say that we don't like the food. Then the guy will retort "But it's healthy for you".. as if that's supposed to make you change your mind and start liking it. Today lunch was provided for us. He never partakes in the lunches provided for us because they're not healthy enough for him. He always brings in some left over soup or stew of some sort which he finds much healthier. But one of our options today was a fruit salad, and he helped himself to 2 servings of it. While he was eating his 2nd serving he said "I really don't like mangos" as they were part of the fruit salad. I thought I'd be funny and say "But they're healthy for you" just because that's what he always says to us when we don't like something. But to my surprise he said "I know, that's why I'm eating them, but I don't really like them". Would you eat food you don't like just because it's good for you?

Well at least you have a good reason for eating them. I used to try smearing them on sandwiches. I never noticed any sort of flavor. It comes out pretty good when it's turned into guacamole.

@crazyhorseladycx I honestly don't think I'd go to such lengths for something healthy for me. Aren't there any other foods you could get the same benefits from?

Do you think healthy eating is weird? Yeah, I find that weird for you to say such a thing especially with all we know of today. But I do know there are some health food 'nuts' that go over the top. It almost sounds like you are ridiculing him because he has a different lifestyle than you, much like pro-lifers vs pro-choice, atheists vs Christians, Kim Davis / Donald Trump vs sensible people, just to name some examples. If I am wrong, I apologize. I am by no means a health - food nut, often I eat the wrong foods, and have spent time in the hospital for it, A week in June, lost 41 lbs, and 2 wks ago, lost 30 lbs. Even though I am enjoying the smaller body now, I was in no way enjoying myself then. I do try to eat healthier, I stay away from fried foods, anything with a batter on it, but I know I will always have a weakness for the good tasting food that I know is horrible for me and everyone else. And when I eat it, I hope fervently that I do not end up getting sick over it. But I would never make fun of someone because of their diet. 10 to 1, he is going to be alive much longer than any one in that break room will be, or for that matter, me!

No, saying that he is weird was a statement, because he is weird. It's nothing to do with his lifestyle choices.. he's just kind of a weird guy and nobody likes him. Probably should have made that point clearer but I wrote this discussion when I should have been going to bed. Also, he's actually very unhealthy. He has poor hygiene habits and a slew of doctor's appointments for various ailments. He actually doesn't even know the first thing about health food.. all he really knows is that sugar is bad, but he eats nothing but fruit and to be honest that much fruit isn't exactly healthy because fruit is nothing but sugar. But I don't tell him that because he's one of those types that doesn't like being told that he's wrong.. but he's the first to point out when you're wrong, even if you're not.

I do all the time but I have a love hate relationship with food as I have dealt with eating disorder issues for over a decade now. It kind of comes with the territory but you learn to deal with it.

I would not just select food that is good for me but would certainly add a few items more because they are good for me and not because I like them.

Absolutely not, I only eat what I like and what my stomach will tolerate.

There are plenty of healthy foods out there that I do like so I won't eat something I don't like just because someone says it's healthy
