Yep! It's National Candy Day! did you know that President Reagan's favorite candy was Jelly beans? His favorite flavor was licorice and he would eat about 306,070 beans each month. He had a standing order of 720 one pound bags of jelly beans delivered to the White House each month. I wonder if he paid for it or if the taxpayer did. I'm sure he probably did.

Are you certain about the figure quoted? That would 24 bags every day. A whole school of children would struggle to keep up with that level of intake, especially after the first couple of weeks.

@celticeagle Apparently jelly beans cannot be very efficient at preventing poor memory.

Too many jelly beans, not to mention that real black licorice candy can be dangerous if consumed in large amounts. T

@celticeagle The fact is that the licorice candies sold in the United States, do not contain real licorice, manufacturers add anise to the candy to give it a licorice-like flavor. In Europe you can find real licorice and eaten in large amount it can interfere with the hormone that helps to control fluid balance in the body by increasing sodium absorption in the kidneys.
