Cashing a non cheque at the bank?

We get our pay stubs every friday when we get paid. It has this slip on the bottom basically saying how much we made and across it saying this is not a cheque. Honestly not sure why it is there other than to see the grand total of it all. But it does look like a cheque but on it in bold letter this is not a cheque. One of the girls I work cashed it thinking it was a cheque, and now our managers had to sit with us all and explain it's not a cheque and don't cash it. I couldn't believe she could be so stupid and cash that. But now I am wondering how many other people have done this. My old job several years back now, had it but no writing stating not a cheque but never heard anyone cashing it.

Honestly, I'm more hung up on the fact that the teller took it and cashed it than the fact that the employee treated it like a check. You'd think that they'd know better...

That was my first thought too, however my coworker did this once. I work at a credit union and she took a paystub thinking it was a check.

@katsmeow1213 I would only assume that she did it at the teller machine not to person. But I agree, but its a clear written on it NOT A CHEQUE in bold letters. So who's more stupid?.

@ricki_911 Yes very true, it was probably done at an ATM, but still someone has to check those.

Some people just aren't as experienced with life as some others are. I feel rather sorry for them and wonder where else in their lives they need the experience.
