Finally, after all the Rejections, it is all done

Hello All, Johannes Kepler, Copernicus and many many others and me now have something in common - We all were rejected initially and finally accepted. The only major difference - I was accepted during my lifetime So, it all started with some discussions on Gardening - and especially one from dear friend @Rosekitty - where I promised to have some veggies planted. We stay at a rented place, and only have some space on the terrace and about 16 flower pots that we have since years now. We had some flowers, aloevera and basil on them and over years, the pots had lost their glamor. Last week, I had planned to start coloring them. And this is what was objected and rejected by everyone in my real world. Some considered it a waste of time, other said, I have lost my mind and some even said that I have nothing else to do in my life Mother nature started playing it bad too - last week there was almost no sunshine, a cloudy overcast and some drizzles to dampen my desire. Anyways, despite all objections and rejections, I did what I wanted to. All 16 of them cleaned, colored and dried. I have got 4 up already - with an aloevera, a basil, and two other flowers. I have also filtered out the earth that was in these 16 and now, I have some bigger gravel to put at the bottom and top and a fine gravel that goes in between as I start planting some tomatoes and cauliflowers in them. Seeing the end results, now, almost all around are happy. And I have been told that they never had thought that the final result (of coloring and filtering) would look so good. And a good thing now is that my brother's wife plans to do same for the pots at her place So where is the discussion? Okay here it comes - Have you believed in something so deep that you chased it despite being called names and rejections? Pic is of the unused flower pots that were drying in the sun. If i am into something , no one can discourage me , not even my husband . And usually , i have done it already before i tell him , because anyway he will not say something good about it .

It is quite good that you are determined and do it before others discover or realize what you are into. In my case, this one took me a while to learn, and then work on it.

Dear lady, I do remember a discussion from the older MyLot - wherein you had mentioned that you were an unpublished writer. I would love that you get that manuscript published. I am so very much interested in reading your novel (or collections). They would be priceless to me

I fortunately have people around me who encourage me, even when I tell myself I will not succeed. I can see us starting a myLot gardening club as well as a walking club. Maybe a cooking club as well. At least people here are encouragers.

It is really good to have people who have faith in what you are doing and a trust with your work and capabilities. Have one or two people who would reject your proposals is also good many a times as they can show you a perspective where you may really need to work upon to be successful. But having a surrounding of people who reject almost everything you do or get into is real sad and sort of unhealthy. Sorry, I had almost forgotten all about this response from you. The first time I saw it, I was busy with a client and had thought I would reply the next day. but as you know me, I am quite forgetful. I do hope you do not take my responding back so late on the wrong sides.

Without meaning to discourage you pots can only be painted with something that have a base without oil as pots need to breathe.

Yes, the ones now have no oil paints. This is pure cement paste that they use for coloring the pots originally. I have now found out that there is a different way to color - instead having the red look. I will do that the next time I paint these pots. And for the soil, it has been filtered using a mesh and there will be 3 layers as I mention.

@thesids That is a clever idea and had not heard of that myself either. However now my dog likes dropping stones big ones,, little ones in every plant pot he can find so bang goes that idea for the moment. I have some Calla Lily growing and he does not care for them either and he has almost knocked down the bushes at the bottom of the Garden. Do I give up deffo not.

They sell special colors for the plant pots here. I like to clean and color them at the end of the season. You did a good job.

I was not aware of the special colors for plant pots. The learnings I got from the Youtube Videos used some oil paints. But that are expensive here and also, I was not quite sure if I would be able to pull this thing off at the start. So I wanted to keep the budgets real low. However, this experience has been great so far and I do believe that next year, I will be doing it with more enthusiasm. Thanks for mentioning that I did a good job. I had been told a lot of negative things when I started off and during the time I did it. So it (the appreciation) is much appreciated

@thesids It's a shame to waste those pots, they look nicer than new once they have been painted. Do not listen to negative people.

Yes, I scrubbed them off the dirt and algae that had accumulated on them. Then washed and dried and then painted them.

@Jessicalynnt 4 of them are already up now with the earlier plants. Here is that pic. I attempted this for the first time, so I was not that much decorative and used a very basic red color. Now that I have a good idea of how to mix, how to go about it, I am sure, if there will be a next time, I will color them different

I am not good at growing flowers or painting things either but I would encourage you to do so if that is what you like. Mine is writing things stories and short Poems usually four liners as I call them. Everyone said I was mad for coming to Spain to marry my Husband well here we are still here many years on I am so glad I never listened to them and listened to my heart instead just for once anyway.

I experienced rejection all my life but they never stopped me from getting what I want. I am hungry to succeed and I know I will succeed. I will delete poverty in my life. I will be filthy rich and I will also be a winner in life.

I can imagine looking at those pots with all the plants growing. Do post them. I've been tested for my ideas and even told that they won't work. More often, I end up convincing the detractors.

Aw, thanks for the appreciation. This idea originated as I read the other discussion and then, I started searching for videos on Youtube. Now that I am more knowledgeable, I will do it better the next time for sure. Maybe use different color for the pots

That's awesome, great job with the pots! I think the greatest rejection I got was when I decided to pursue what I like and quit my career. I did it anyway and never been happier.

That must have been awesome feeling for sure when you followed your decision to pursue your dream even risking your job and then the satisfaction of reaching there, Rejections have mostly been a sort of motivators to many great people, including me and you

It's good that you persevered with what you wanted to do. You have shown the doubters that you knew what you were doing. I hope your plants do well in their new pots.
