Ingrown Toenail

Having a manicure and pedicure in salons are not very advisable. Why? Oh darling! It is so expensive! On my 5 years here as an expat, I only got 4 done in a salon. Last Thursday, I do my own toenails. I pulled out a ΒΌ inch ingrown on my right big toe. Woohoo! It is a relief. Then after a day, I felt that my big toe stings whenever I make a step. To my surprise it was inflamed! Haha! This morning before I go to office, I put some alcohol, open up an antibiotic capsule poured the powder on my swollen toe and tip some alcohol again. Now I feel the pain more tolerable. Who do your manicure and pedicure?

I've only had one manicure in my life (for my wedding), and I've never had a pedicure. I hope your toe heals quickly.

@LadyDuck I not the best idea? It beautifies your nails right? On my wedding I have color white on. :)

Take an antibiotic for that so the swelling will subside and will heal . I always do my own pedicure . That's because i had a bad experience at the salon before wherein the manicurist took too much of my ingrown from my toenail . It too , swelled . At least if it is me , i can feel outright if it is too much ingrown .

@SIMPLYD The ingrown on my big toenails is quite deep already. That is every time I clean my toe it bleeds. I always "murder" my own nails. haha!

I go to a salon and I have been doing it for years now. It is lalziness sometimes that I put off going there and then I have to trim them myself. They just do not give in as they become hard.

@wiLLmaH I normally combine the hair cut, feet massage and such. So I really would not know how much each of these would cost.

I have only had a manicure/pedicure twice in my life at a salon. One being my sister's wedding and the other, for fun when I was back in high school years ago just to experience being pampered. Now, I do my own manicure/pedicures after hearing many horror stories with nail salons. And, I have experienced an ingrown toe nail once - it was extremely painful. I hope yours heal soon.

I do my nails and toenails, especially for the toenails it is important to know how to cut them to avoid ingrown nails. Check online there are good tutorials. If your toe does not improve, go to see your doctor.

That is a good idea @LadyDuck! I will check youtube. But my toenails are now really curved in. Because I am having a pedicure since my teenage years. My aunt is a salon owner that is why.

I always do my own, but I had an ingrown toenail a few years ago that I had to have surgery on. Don't ever let one get that bad! It was painful for days.

I do mine all the time. I find it too expensive to have it done in saloon so I'd rather do it myself for I can manage it anyway.

Good for you that you can do it by yourself. It only costs Php50.00 at Manila for a home service pedicure.

I always do my own nails because I don't trust salons. I might end up getting infection on my nails. I've seen many cases like that.

I have them done regularly because I do a lot of gardening without any protective gear, I love getting them done. Its great to relax while you are pampered.

You are correct. It is a relief after all the calluses and ingrown was removed.

I go to a salon for a pedicure in the summer. Other than that, I do my own.
