If NASA says it there must be some truth in it

Why is no one talking about this serious happening that the earth will be in darkness from November 15 to November 29. There is a page on this. You can read it and have your say NASA has made that statement.
15 days of total darkness between November 15 and 29 await the Earth, according to NASA. Astronomers from NASA have confirmed that the world will be in complete darkness from Sunday, November 15 to Monday, November 30. The darkness will occur from 3:00 AM

No need to decide if we want to believe it or not. When the time comes, we will know. For things that have yet to happen, nobody can tell for sure, not even NASA. They can predict, and their prediction will have a margin of error.

Well said. But NASA should say something in their defence when prediciions do not come about.

I find this extremely difficult to accept. The suggestion of Jupiter having the power to raise the temperature of the Sun seems pure science fiction to me. Oh well, the vampires will be happy. It will be just like the film "30 days of night" but for only half as long.

@allknowing If they are we are never likely to know about it. We will be left in the dark as usual.

@Asylum Then that page will be brought down. Actually there could be some truth as at this moment it is cloudy here although it has not rained.

What baffles me is that how a legitimate site like .healthylifeland.com can publish this news. Will they not be taken to task for this false news if at all?

I won't notice its dark here all winter anyway. Science is very cool and universal events are interesting but do we really need hoax's to draw attention?

Spreading stories of a Body as huge as NASA needs guts.

@allknowing The larger websites must be checking to see if we are are awake. I know it seems like they don't have much quality control.

@Bluedoll Would you have kept quiet if someone spread rumours in your name. I would not. And NASA is quiet. Is it not odd?

Okay agreed ,this is a Hoax. But then,NASA should come forward with a statement denying it .I think it is strange to allow such ''rumours '' to circulate and not deny it.

I also think it is odd when it is doing the rounds so blatantly

@allknowing May be NASA does not want to make the person who came up with this to feel important.

There have been so many predictions in the past with no real evidence. No one takes them seriously any more.

@valmnz Imagine our plight if it did happen.

I have said this already in my comments here but Val how can anyone publicly talk about an Institution such as NASA ridiculing them? And why is NASA dragged into this and at the same time why is NASA quiet about it? I am confused.

@allknowing I have no idea. But I don't anticipate being in darkness in a few days time.

Why is nobody talking about it? Because it won't happen.

@allknowing Why should NASA care about something so petty? This rumour is so absurd that they will not see any anything to be concerned about. The earth is much nearer to Venus than Jupiter is, so if we feel no heat from it then how can it possibly affect Jupiter. We are also between Jupiter and the Sun, so if it was possible for Jupiter to raise the temperature of the Sun's surface then it would certainly not be dark on Earth because the planet would be totally destroyed in the heat.

There are many sites reporting this very story, but none that can offer any tangible evidence. It has always been common knowledge that a rumour can spread quickly, but this seems to be an extreme example.

@Asylum Why is NASA then not coming forward squashing this rumour?

This is not true that's why
A fake news article falsely claims that NASA has announced the Earth will experience 15 straight days of darkness in November 2015.

I have read this article but what puzzles me is that why NASA is allowing its name to be dragged when what is being said is not true?

Probably because everythone believe that this is a hoax. I cannot believe that Jupiter can raise the temperature of the sun. If I would hear this in a sci-fi movies, this would surely make me laugh.

As I have already commented below I do not understand why NASA is keeping quiet when such news is spread in their name, if there is no truth in it. I find this whole thing odd. Also the site that has put up this article surely has some standing. What does it benefit by spreading such news if there is no element of truth in it.
