Do you partake in the madness that is Black Friday?

I think that this year Black Friday will be different. The last couple of years have gone a bit overboard with many stores being open on Thanksgiving (which some refer to as Grey Thursday) but this year there are many stores that are doing the opposite and making a point to NOT be open on Thanksgiving. Do you ever go shopping on Black Friday? I have before but in recent years I stick to online shopping during this time. I just don't see the point of stampeding to save a couple of dollars or waiting in line for several days in order to buy a TV on sale etc. In all honesty I think it's better to put more effort into another job or something that will generate money and then get whatever you really wanted...although my view has changed in recent times due to me living more of a minimalist life but there's just something about Black Friday and those crazy sales that really draw you in isn't there?

I do not participate in the Black Friday events. It was bad enough when I was an overnight cashier and had to work at a few of them. The day after Thanksgiving up until Christmas Eve were the busiest times for me as a cashier. Never ending!! Ugh!

@Bellatricks I'm so glad that it didn't get crazy with people knocking each other out of the way to get what they wanted. We had organized lines. First come. First served.

I worked it many many years ago when I was a teenager and it was too much for me. I feel bad for the people having to work it.

No way A few years ago my husbands well and mine came here and they all went out on Black Friday and asked me if I wanted to go. I told them they were all crazy! It was so so cold that day and I did not want any part of the madness!! I try to buy gifts throughout the year and have them ready. L.O.L. Those people are crazy out there! Fighting over t.v.'s and things! L.O.L. Not for me

It is a bit crazy when people break out in fights. I just can't comprehend why objects make people go so crazy! I do the buy through the year thing as well.

It's something that my mother-in-law, a friend of hers, along with my sister-in-law, have been doing for several years now, and they've been enjoying it. They are disappointed they aren't doing it this year. To be perfectly honest, I don't really see the point. Sure, I'll save a buck, whenever I can, but I don't understand why some enjoy going into stores full of people, and waiting for hours to pay for their purchases. It's not really my thing.

@Bellatricks it seems to make more sense to do it like that. Maybe that's what I may do this year, if I can.

I could never go right when it opens, that's just too crazy for me. Last year I saw the same deals online so I think that's good for the people who want a deal but don't want to be around the craziness.

Yeah, whenever I've gone in the past I usually go later in the day when most of the crazy people are gone.

I don't like the craziness either! Sometimes you can find the same sales online though which is nice.

I have int he past partook in black Friday madness. One of the years I went to Walmart as part of my line up of stores I was going to go to that evening. In Walmart you can wait inside the store instead of outside in the cold as most stores having you doing. So you can still shop in Walmart while you wait for the big deals to be uncovered in the middle of the isles. I was int he movie section waiting for the movies to be uncovered and a fist fight broke out between two adult men in the video game section. Are you kidding me?? From then on I refuse to join the madness anymore, I would rather go the day after and see what is left for sales. I think it is a big waste of time.

I think it's so ridiculous when the older people get into physical alterations, they should know better!

I have in the past, but I've found I prefer to wait and go a bit later when the crowds are a bit smaller. I see if there's any decent left over deals.

I used to take part in Black Friday, but now I just go shopping but not early in the afternoon for the fun of it. Mainly I don't have to go during Black Friday, because deals are already even going on before Black Friday!

we don't sh on Black Friday because people always get crazy, hostile and violent. I have heard of rele getting trampled and killed over stupid things like a game system to save maybe a total of $100 or be able to get it a little before everyone else. None of those things are worth freezing in a parking lot at some insanely early hour. More over none of that is worth suffering injury or dying for.

@Bellatricks (100), I never do Black Friday... I feel sorry for the cashiers and workers that have to go in on Thanksgiving and prepare for this.. But of course, Walmart makes their employees work all day on Thanksgiving anyway, there is no respect for families... if only the Waltons knew today what Walmart has become, they would not like it. I do not shop there at all. I will not give them one penny of mine.
