Yesterday , when I got the result of my medical laboratory exams , I felt weak seeing that my cholesterol is above the normal level. All the rest though were on normal level including my blood sugar . I know , some of you will say , I am really stubborn that’s why , eating some fatty foods still . I tried much, to be honest , however , when there are occasions I can’t control eating my favorite lechon and rich foods . And the doctor gave me a prescription until January because she said the next month , December, is a month of eating ! And we both laughed out loud because it is so true ! Now , I am back to drinking my hot green tea after every meal . I noticed that when I was drinking it after every meal my cholesterol was normal , though of course I avoid eating the fat of the pork .

I would prefer to renounce to fatty food than to use cholesterol prescriptions. There are food that helps to lower the bad cholesterol, barely, oat, nuts, beans, dark chocolate (), garlic, baby spinach, olive oil. Try to introduce them in your diet.

@SIMPLYD - Here is some advice from Dr Mercola.. By the way, I am 70 and eat butter and coconut oil every day, but avoid margarine and sugar and white flour..
You might be missing the valuable benefits of full-fat foods if you're eating low-fat or non-fat dairy products.

Really ! Oh that's goods news then , because i love butter as filling for my sandwich . I would sometimes spread butter first then top it with something sweet like blueberry jam . It's delicious ! Though , i don't eat them everyday because the butter is said to be of cholesterol and the jam bad for the blood sugar , But that is if you are already more than 40 year old .

I've never had my cholesterol level tested before. I would guess that it should be high too because I just love fried food. What's the point of living a long life when you cannot enjoy eating the good delicious rich food that are so easily available? But everything in moderation.

Oh Hi ! So finally you are back here too ! Nice to see you . Maybe you should also have to have your cholesterol tested . Having it in high level could be fatal . You can have a heart attack all of a sudden because it's asyptomatic . And you are correct , what's the use of living when you cannot enjoy the delicious foods . But they should really be done in moderation and couple it with lots of exercise .

If you reduce the consumption of fat in your diet and start walking 4 kilometers a day, your cholesterol level will come down. In my opinion, you need to start walking, it will also help you in maintaining your blood pressure and blood sugar levels. thanks

@SIMPLYD What do you mean low? Is it normal like 120/80. How high is your cholesterol level? Is it over 10?

@salonga The normal range is 3.90 - 5.20 mmo /L . Mine is at 6.96 ! Oh my ! The first time i had it that high . In the past when it goes over the top , it would just be .20 or .30 higher. So , i must really stick to my healthy ways again now .

No my dear . You can have high cholesterol but with low BP like mine . My cholesterol gets high when i really can't control eating those fatty foods . So now, i will be drinking hot green tea after every meal again , because that helped me in washing whatever cholesterol laden food i have eaten . But i am glad i was given the medication so i can be sure my cholesterol can be controlled from getting over the normal . And so i will now avoid fatty foods .

The doctor said an at least 30 minute exercise everyday would be a big help . But since i have my full time job from 8 am to 6:30 in the evening , i would be too tired already to do that on weekdays .

My grandma is stubborn too, she likes eating fatty foods which is bad for her. When we tell her to stop she'll say, she wants to eat what she wants while she's still alive. "Masarap ang bawal" she always says that. And I hope you're fine now.

And true enough that is what older people says like my father . But as for me , i think it is just a matter of it's because there's an occasion where there are foods i do not eat everyday , so i eat them . Though , on everyday basis , i avoid eating the fat of the pork , the skin of the chicken , although sometimes i also eat the crispy skin of chicken .

well, i think drinking tea from the young avocado leaves may also decrease the blood sugar levels. I am not so sure about this though

It isn't just food however with cholesterol. Your body may just be producing it. Good luck with getting it under control.

That is true . The body produces it and food only contributes 15 % to it . With the medication and some diet and exercise , i can again beat it .

Yes, try it , because it's a very healthy drink with lots of health benefits . Drink it hot because it's effective in washing those fats that we have eaten . I used to drink it at least 3 times a day . But it seems during the past month , i got lazy drinking it . Now , i have to go back.

Of course i want lechon ! It's my favorite . If there's one faty food i can't resist , it's lechon . Anyway , i seldom eat it since it's only on occasions when there is lechon .
