Credit Card Bashing

I was just sitting here thinking about all the Christmas Shopping that must be going on at the minute. Have you started your shopping yet? The shop tills will be ringing out their own Christmas Song, but along with the ever growing queues i can't help but think about how many people will be paying for things with credit cards - They get quite a bashing at this time of year don't they? I used to do the same, pay now, think later thing.... but i don't do that anymore. After i lost my job through ill health several years ago and was left with massive credit card bills to sort out i realised just how silly i had been. Now i use a credit card only to rebuild my credit score (because i will need to change my mortgage at some point in the future no doubt and won't be able to with a bad credit history!) It makes me sad to think about the bills that get run up at this time of year, and all for no reason really! I wish i could bash those credit card companies over the head!

I never spend more on my credit card than what I can pay back. I only have a card because of the convenience of being able to buy stuff online or over the phone and because lots of cash doesn't have to be carried around. I've never understood how people can live beyond their means and spend lots of money and not worry about how to pay it back. I suppose I just have a common sense approach to everything.

That's why I do online writing, so far every christmas present was actually paid for, and the credit card bills from an issue with the home have still been a little lower at the end of the month than they were at the beginning.

Pulling out the credit card is just way too easy and we all can fall victim to the lure of easy shopping. But I think Christmas will be small this year, it's time to reign in all the credit and keep debts down.

I use credit cards for everything. It is more convenient than cash. I pay it off every month.

Hi Ellie, Credit cards are not fun especially when the bills come. We all learn.

You are not alone who is facing this situation. Every person who owns a credit card faces this situation. It is very difficult to avoid buying a thing with credit card in pocket
