. Children are our future .. We must guide them well but let them lead the way .. Watching children grow make us realise how short life really is..They remind us of our own childhood .. But no matter how fortunate or unfortunatewe our own childhood was, we really must make extra effort to make our own children's life experiences much better than what we ourselves experienced . And our grandchildren even more so.. But unfortunately for them, the world they will inherit is terribly damaged. Physically and spiritually. What do you think we should do to make sure that this world is a wonderful place for all the children of the world? .. Bess .

To be honest, I think the world (certainly my experiences in my country) is just as safe now as it was during my childhood, and an awful lot safer then when my parents were children! The main thing that has changed is communication. IE, in the 70's when I was a kid - murders happened (there was a higher % of murders then compared to this time period), however, these days with the internet and smart phones, people are always updated with news reports about murders. Back in the day, only high profile murders were reported and only reported in newspapers. When my parents were children, they had even more threats - bombs falling from the sky, food rationing and a potential Nazi invasion.

@destry yes in a way, our world is safer because of the technology.. We now know who the threats are..

We cannot really control this world but our family we could and that is by leading our children to the right path so that they will grow in righteousness and fear of the Lord. This way, they will serve as good examples to others.

@salonga I think the only one we can actually control is ourselves.. Even our own children should not be subjected to control even by us parents.. And I also think that righteousness can be taught through love rather than fear.. And showing example of love rather than fear is more effective ..

@epiffanie I respect your opinion but I must say that unless one has fear of the Lord, it is impossible for anyone to even control himself. This is the reason why there are those who fall into sin. I am able to control my son by teaching him the right way since childhood. This is the reason why he grew up into a person God wants him to be. Control does not necessarily means to make a robot out of him but being able to make him behave properly with or without my supervision. Fear of the Lord is a biblical thing, if you will take the word fear in a literal sense it will not match the biblical meaning. Even God himself wants us to fear him. The biblical meaning of fear of God is respecting Him, obeying Him, submitting to His discipline, and worshiping Him in awe. Ecclesiastes 12:13 states "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man." Hence, the fear of God is the basis for our walking in His ways, serving Him, and, of course loving Him.

@salonga Yes I understand your interpretation of the meaning of fear. I was brought up with that kind of fear too.. But I decided to learn the love of God within instead and that is how I brought up my children . I also did not teach them to obey. I encouraged them to cooperate instead. I'm grateful that they turned out okay..

Do you really think that there's anything we could do to change the world for the better with all that is going on? When has this world ever been a safe place? I don't think so. It's only going to keep on getting worse till God has had enough and He will make a big cleanup and start again.

@1hopefulman I've heard that since I was a child, that God will put an end to all the evilness in the world.. I'm just wondering why God not do something to prevent ..if god is really that powerful, he could end the sufferings specially of innocent children.. Wouldn't you if you could?..

@epiffanie I know that you have suffered a lot and I sympathize with you. God does everything right and it takes a lot longer to make sure that this mess never happens again once it is cleaned up. I wish things would go faster too but I am not God. I will continue to live the best that I can and wait patiently.

Teach them to respect and enjoy nature, to stop waste and recycle stuff, be less greedy for stuff and have a genuine respect and love for people,.. bring back the old values in short.

@sofssu .. Yes those you mentioned are very important things that we must pass on to the children. Yes we must bring back the old values which won't be easy as we are now living in a "disposable" society. Tons of rubbish are created each day. So alarming!

I don't think the world is too damaged. Children grew up for thousands of years through horrible times and places. ww2 was only around 75 years ago and the children that lived through that went on to create a great time of peace and prosperity. Unfortunately things are getting harder again but I am sure that just like before the harder things are the stronger we will be.

It should start from us parents . We should be a good model to them and teach them how to be a good person . If all parents does that to their children , then the next generation will know what better things to do to make the world a safer place to be .

I never worry about my children in the future as long as I prepare them with faith and good morals. Don't forget that God is watch what we do for our children and God does not sleep. Each generation will find the way how to live and survive...

@epiffanie Okay if you think the future is part of the preparation, it means we should always teach our children to keep the world peace and peace...

@srisahara I think worrying or thinking about the future is part of the preparation.

keep away from children from unwanted things if they see this kind of thing in TV then try to change channel or their topic on other way, learn them good and positive thought only, also learn about culture and limitation.
