Can I Make You Smile?

This old gal attempted some odes Tried my hand at differing modes, You don't have to read, But my heart it will bleed If you think I should stick to my prose. There once was an old man called Clyde Who took to himself a young bride, He thought he could cope But that was some hope, He'd a smile on his face when he died. Fay was a bit of a floozie, Met Johnny in a jacuzzi, She was full of allure But seemed like a whore, What the heck - he wasn't that choosy. There was an old soldier called Flynn, Dug a pit for his foe to fall in, But he feared for his life When along came his wife, And she was the one that fell in. Original limericks by Jabo. Photo my own - palm trees in Spain. Have you ever tried to write any limericks? They are quite easy to do, so why not have a go?

@allknowing I know that you are a good poet Grace, as you've demonstrated here. I remember your video of you reading one of your poems, and that was very impressive. Thanks for being kind about my efforts.

Your rhyming of floozie with jacuzzi. Inspired!!! There was a fine poet named Janet, Whose poems are right off this planet, She knocks out a rhyme, In double quick time, And they're better than I can do, Dammit!!

@WorDazza Meant is a perfectly valid rhyme for compliment. And yes it was a compliment - it's a great asset being able to make people laugh as you do. And well done for being able to come back at me with this so quickly

@jaboUK Describing myself as a clown, Could definitely lead to a frown, But I know that it's meant, As a huge compliment, So it won't be getting me down (Apologies for the slightly iffy 'meant', 'compliment' rhyme)

I've always enjoyed your limericks, and the picture is very nice too. The view is a far cry from our view of bare trees, without leaves, and the cold rain coming down.

@jaboUK Did I not make the view sound nice enough to trade, I'll work on that. Our lovely view is of trees, and they shine from the rain that is falling on them.

Yes I have done a few times. I did a post on here about them. I had a few people that went back and forth on them and it was rather funny. They are simple to write and fun and can make people laugh. Most children't nursery rhymes are limericks.
