I am a writer, we all are writers. I am of the belief that those who put words down on paper or on computer is a writer. Anyone who has put down their hopes and dreams, their beliefs and disbeliefs is a writer. All of us here on MyLot are writers. We just have to believe in ourselves. Too many writers or would be writers let other dissuade them, make them feel less than talented and creative. It is time for all writers everywhere to believe that they are really and truly writers.

Someone who writes isn't necessarily a writer. Technically yes, but not in the generally acknowledged meaning of the word. To make someone a writer a bit more than stringing words together is needed. I've been on writing sites for 15 years but I'd never dream of calling myself a writer.

@MALUSE I disagree, the tecnically accepted definition these days is one who writes. You are definitely a writer.

I do not believe that the simple fact to write makes us writers, but I enjoy discussions on this site.

@MALUSE Yes, it seems that we are more critical. I think that anybody can write, at least all those who learned to write, but some be considered writers a very few good writers.

I am a writer and I believe in myself. I want other writers to have that same belief in their own writing talent as well.

Although the broad meaning of the word writer is "a person who has written something or who writes in a particular way." it is normally referred to authors who regularly write books on an going basis. I cannot call myself a writer nor will I say anyone who writes a book once in a blue moon could be termed as a writer. .

We're writers. We have to give ourselves credit. Believing is what we need. Keep going.

I am also a writer then. :) I agree with you. I think everybody should write, because writing is one of the best way of expressing your thoughts and feelings. There is no right or wrong in writing.

It took me several years and the publication of y first book before I could say that. But you are so right, anyone who writes is a writer.

We are all writers to some degree, some obviously better than others and can make great pieces of work. I do believe we all have talent to write some way or another :D

Nicely said, Susan! It doesn't matter what we write, whether it's journal entries or short stories. To each their own, we're all writers here.
