The title of this post, Seems the hardest thing to do is to find a friend or two, comes from the song, Say You Say Me.
When I was young, Say You Say Me, was so popular. You got to hear it practically every day on the radio.
This song was written and sang by Lionel Richie.
I did not appreciate the sentiment of this song, especially the part about the hardest thing in life is to find a friend or two.
When we were young, it was so easy to make friends. There were always someone around to help you with homework, and to play in the playground.
Now that I am much older, I can see that having a friend or two and keeping them for life is nearly impossible.
There are times when friendship means a greeting card once a year. Things change. Time is different. People change.
Seems the hardest thing to do is to find a friend or two.

Yes, it is true at some point in time of my life. People do come and go and those people who call you friends may not really treat you as a friend. They are just hanging out with you because they need something from you, and that is really so sad. You thought you had a friend that you can count on when you have a problem. Truly, you can find true friends in dark times of your life, not where there is light. Just be happy with who you are with and enjoy every moment, be kind even if they are not. If they like you as you are, the it's good. If not, then it's their loss. :)

Sometimes I think some people are friends of us because they are afraid of loneliness.
They may not even like us enough to make friends with us, but they need someone to talk to, and so they tolerate our presence.
i think in general, humans are selfish creatures.

@scheng1 selfish creatures huh? Well, I think it depends upon what your attitude or behavior is. If you accept people as they are, and learn to love them, well then and good. That's the power of friendship. What you said, yes there can be people like that but soon enough, no matter how bad people are, there is always goodness inside them. Someone just have to help them let it out. That's where true friends came in... :)

At first I thought I have not heard about this song, then I searched and listened, yes, this is a popular song.
I still remember just after I was graduated from high school, a friend told me it's really hard to have a real friend in our life. I did not agree with him at that time, as I thought I have many good friends in school, not only one. But as I grew older, I found that these good friends are not really "friends" I thought to be. I do not blame them, as you said, things change, people change. We just can't be good friends as we used to be when we were in school. Sometimes, even if I meet up with them, we do not have much common topics anymore.
I really think those people who have one or two good friends in their life are very blessed.
Well, I think I am blessed too, as my husband is actually one of my good friends in high school. We learn and grow together and also walk together now.

Yes, that is a blessing.
Not many people married their boyfriends who were school mates with them.
i think that is one of life's blessings that you appreciate.
It is hard to find a good friend who will know what you will say or do, and who will support you.

I have yet to know the meaning of a true friend. I have them but I wonder why we are friends (lol)
