What Is Your Favorite Breed Of Dog?

Recently, I watched the American Kennel Club Dog Show. I love watching that show and seeing all the different and unusual breeds of dogsl My favorite, although I've never owned one, is a Border Collie. We did own a Collie when we lived out in the country. I just think the Border Collie is so smart and herding is bred into them. As puppies they automatically know what they are supposed to do. I saw a special about them some time ago, and it fascinated me to see how quickly their instinct to herd kicks in. I think the Eskimo dogs are gorgeous and one of my favorite movies is "Iron Will," about a young boy whose father died. And he decided to enter the Iditarod Race so he could win the money to save his home. It is a great movie. I own it and watch it often. Have you ever seen it? What is your favorite breed of dog?

I have a Cairn Terrier that we've had for 14 years or so. She's priceless to us and (I think) the most adorable thing ever!

@Ponder243 What a cute dog! I've heard of several types of Terriers, but I don't think I've paid attention enough to know exactly what a Cairn Terrier is. I will have to research that breed a little more. I know that she is priceless to you, especially if you've had her for 14 years. Really cute. What is her name?

@Ponder243 Oh that's nice. Dogs are like family members sometimes. Cute names too. I had a friend who named her dog Holly, probably for the same reason, but I'm not sure about that.

All dogs to me are nice to own as a pet. I like to give a home to a mixed breed dog because they need a home.

Yes, sometimes the mixed breed dog is the sweetest, gentlest dog a person could want. Oh that we could rescue all of them, but sadly the statistics are very high for those that are euthanized because no one wanted them or there was no room at the shelter. It's a sad thing to think about.

I have had a lot of dogs from many different breeds, and I have loved each one of them. My current dogs are a dachshund and a dachshund-pug cross, a pugsund. So, I guess I'd better say those are my favorites.
