It is time for me to make some Christmas cards

Unlike many people who begin planning for Christmas early November, I always ignore Christmas completely until the month of December begins. It is actually later than I intended to make a start, so I really need to do something about it now. Christmas cards will be the first item on the agenda. There are very few that I will be giving out this year, so it will be a rather quick job. I have just checked and I have envelopes and pre scored card, which means there is no need to purchase anything else. I shall print a few cards off tonight and probably give them out tomorrow.Next I shall look at stocking up on groceries and a few extras, which I intended to do a while ago but never got around to.

@Marilynda1225 I like the idea of a banana cake, but where do you buy a cake tin that shape?

@Asylum It's almost as difficult as buying a tin for a rainbow cake.

I have only one or two more cards to write then I'll be finished with them. I just need to put the tree up which will take probably half an hour from go to whoa.

If you put the tree up with one hand then you will have a spare hand to write out the cards at the same time.

@Asylum If I do that I'll have nothing to do after. Multitasking is a great scam - just a way to get people to do more in less time. Eating chocolate with ice-cream doesn't count. Nor does drinking gin with tonic.

@JudyEv How about watching a film and reading the subtitles at the same time.

I just read a post about a young girl in America who is trying to collect a lot of Christmas cards, so now I will have to queue at the Post Office tomorrow to send one airmail. With my luck there will probably be a massive queue.

@BelleStarr Strange, I find an ordinary stamp is sufficient for delivery in the UK.

I have already bought most of my groceries, but I will have to buy some fresh things only a few days before Christmas and this something I hate, because the stores will be over crowded.

The two main items that cannot be stored practically are milk and bread. These are the two that cause me to shop on my way home after a holiday.

@Asylum I cannot store the cotechino nor freeze it. I make the bread so this is not a problem.

@LadyDuck Making bread is too much hassle for me, I would rather just loaf around.

I think good old eCards are fine. Just pick and choose or create your own. This is the green way to go. I think it is a good idea to make it a green Christmas and send out electronic cards.

I never see much purpose in eCards. In my opinion you may as well send a text message instead.

@poehere It certainly beats the traditional White Christmas with snow all over the place.

@Asylum Just giving you a very bad time that is all. Everyone talks about going green these days so why not start with Christmas.

I have no writing to do because I print the names into the cards and print the envelopes.

@fishtiger58 I seriously begrudge paying so much for a small piece of card with a little printing on it.

@Asylum that's a great idea, however as I have said often I am so not computer savvy. So I do it the old way and mail snail mail.

I bought some cards but haven't written them out yet. You would think I wouldn't procrastinate since I only send out about a handful.

I have not bought a card for almost 15 years now. It was such a pain spending time trying to select appropriate ones, which usually had very little inside anyway. I find designing and printing my own much easier and at least I can personalise them.

I stocked up on groceries when they were having pre-Thanksgiving sales. Of course, I froze most of the perishable stuff, unless I ate it.

I usually stock up in early December, but it may be a little later this year.

The same spirit exists for me 12 months per year, so I do not need Christmas to feel concern for others.
