I am just so very tired

I am going to lay down as soon as I get this discussion written out and posted. Last night (saturday) at work was horrible. We were given another person to help us but help us they did not. The person who came in to help is one I have talked about here before. He is the newest member of our team but also the slowest. He has a disadvantage (I don't want to call it a disability though it does hinder him somewhat) and it causes him to be slower at the task. I know he tries, and I also know he realizes he's not cut out for this work. We are supposed to be getting a replacement and he is supposed to be sent to another department. It hasn't happened yet and honestly it could be months before it does. We don't seem to keep people when we do get them. In any case, because this guy was so slow I ended up doing more than I usually do. It wasn't much more that I had to do, but I was still put off by it all because I was working my behind off to get things done. I don't expect to have a good night tonight either because we will be missing someone and that usually means I'll get sent to another aisle. That's a story and a half. I am tired, I am going to go to bed. One more night and then I have two days off, that's my mantra right now.

That pretty much sums up what my job has been like for the past 2 weeks since that coworker was fired. It's just me and one other guy who also has a developmental disability and is also very slow. This coming week we're going to be audited... I can imagine that's going to be so much fun!

@GardenGerty Yes it has been very busy. Next week our interns will return and that will lighten my load. No idea when they're going to hire a new teller, I don't even think they've interviewed any yet.

We have our own version of audits in our department, things our manager has to do, things we have to make sure is done, and we feel the pressure from the store manager because of it. Luckily that's already come and gone for now. My co-worker's limitation is a physical one but he's also not fully "trained" so to speak though we give him tips and tricks a lot. Is your audits individual or as a group?

It seems that you are over burdening yourself with the work and you just do not get enough rest. You need to find out some ways to take rest in between your busy schedule.

I probably could use some more rest but it's not just enough sleep that is the problem

I hope the fella understands that he needs to help. That's what teamwork consist of. I hope you continue to rest up. It can be tiring when there's heavy workload.

There are several other issues that sort of divide us as a team at times. It's annoying but it's the facts of life I suppose. I'm going to go in with a good attitude and just do my best, but I will be talking to my manager again.

Stress at work is obviously spilling over into your home life. I'm glad that you'll have two days free.

Unfortunately it does spill over to home life sometimes. I usually need the two days off after three days straight.

I have about twenty five more minutes of being online before I have to start getting ready for the real world again. Hoping it won't be as bad as I anticipate it being.

I slept well, but my cold is wanting to rear it's head now. If it's not one thing it's the other. I've resolved to go in and just do my best.

@ScribbledAdNauseum That's all you can do. My colds have finally gone. I had one after the other for a month after I got out of the nursing home last month.

I hope by now you are soundly snoozing. I heard the alarm that we did not shut off and I woke up because I have a ton of stuff to do and I am hungry. Needed coffee. Sleep well.

I feel so sorry for the person with disability. I think he is very unhappy, and he longs for an escape from this job too. On the plus side, you will have a very good night of sleep since you are so tired!

You are right, I slept well because I Was so tired. I don't know that he's very miserable, but I know he knows that it causes us problems because he's unable to complete the tasks.

Put yourself in your "robot" mode and keep going until those 2 days off come to the rescue.

We have a coffee machine at work that has a spout that gives hot water. Going to bring a few packages of "relax" tea, make one before I start, and one at lunch.

Only 8-10 working hours before the two days off. That's what I keep reminding myself.

I have three days off a week but what kills me is the three days in a row, two of which are truck nights. Sometimes I just want a breka inbetween. *truck nights means we get product in to stock*
