The Strangest Clock I Have Ever Seen

Head to Cheadle in South Manchester, on the Cheshire borders and take a look at the clock face of the local Parish Church. You’ll see that instead of the numbers one to twelve or the usual Roman Numerals, the clocks three faces bear religious phrases using twelve letters of the alphabet. On the face given here the message reads ‘Forget Not God’. The two other faces of the clock bear similar commands on the populace. Maybe we need secular ones saying things like ‘Dinners Ready’. I started in the wrong spot, and read Not God Frog (yeah I know, I read that wrong), and then stopped because I knew we were not talking about The Great Frog in the sky.

sounds like a religion worth starting - lily pads, being kissed by princesses, all the flies you can eat,

"Dinner is Ready", is a great idea, even better if it's a talking clock.

Oh, so that's what it says! I was wondering what "tonte grof dog" might mean.

This does seem a very original and interesting idea. I am surprised that I was not aware of this before.
