Did you get some Christmas presents you'll actually use?

I'm not that big on Christmas presents for adults, except maybe for books. I have most of the material possessions I need. But yesterday I did "score" one present that I'll actually use. My Aunt and Uncle always seem to hit the nail on the head. My "favorite" present was a candle holder made by my 7-year-old Niece. It's a jar with paper around it, and art work on the paper. But the one I'll use the most is a zippered hoodie from my Aunt and Uncle. It's grey, with no words on it, and has a nice fleecy lining. I'm actually wearing it as I type. Along with the gag gifts that made you laugh, the things you'll never use, and the present you already ate, did you receive something that you'll actually continue to use?

I got awesome Christmas gifts, a spa gift certificate, an immersion blender, fluffy jammies, gift card to my favorite restaurant and some great new leggings. Plus a beautiful candle with a Downton Abbey hand made quilt holder. And I have more coming!!

To be honest, I'll never use a lot of the gifts I got, the exception being a frilly scarf. That is very nice. Glad you like your hoodie and candle holder.

A scarf sounds like a good thing. I have a few of those NY style scarves that you used to be able to buy on the street (maybe you still can) for $5.

My two teenage kids always seem to find that one gift that absolutely makes my day! This year, they bought me a brand new electric razor. How they knew my old one was on its last leg was beyond me, but they got me the perfect present! And of course, like you mentioned above, my favorites every holiday are the homemade or handmade gifts! There's always so much love that goes into them!

@TheHorse I was thinking the same thing! My son is 12 now, so it won't be long before he starts shaving! Maybe he was trying it out and realized it was time for a new one! And 23 whiskers might be a tad too high for him right now! I would think he probably has 2-3! lol

Maybe they secretly borrowed it and discovered it didn't remove any of the 23 whiskers they found. Yes, hand-made are the best!

Christmas is for kids in our family so the adults tend to miss out on gifts. I did treat myself to a new XBox 360 controller however, although that's something the whole family will use.

Yah I got a new printer for my job.. Now this is something that I'll use. My other one is around 8 years old and has just given up being recognized by the computer or even if it is it won't print anymore. So this was all I actually needed and I did get this. As a matter of fact it was all I got. Hahahahaha. Didn't want anything at all. so this was a nice surprise.

@TheHorse I thought so too. Only other thing I really wanted was a major industrial mixer because I love to cook. But here they are way too hard to find. Oh well I love the printer and it was a very practical and useful gift I got. that is all I got and that is fine with me.

Yes, I got a gag gift from the grab and steal game, I also got some money, can always use that, and yes, I got the good stuff to eat - baklava. I'll be savoring that for a few days, one piece a day as it is so rich.

@TheHorse I get it every two years for Christmas and I savor it for several days. I fell in love with it when I lived in Illinois and had it for the first time at an authentic Greek restaurant in the mall I worked at. You'll just have to have a virtual piece and remember the awesome rich honey and walnut sticky goodness of every excruciating bite.

Nope, I didn't get any presents at all this year. I rarely do. We don't have any family left. My husband and I don't usually buy for each other because we'd rather use all of our extra cash to buy for the kids. So I don't get any presents. That's fine.. I went out and bought myself some stuff and got exactly what I wanted.

Im glad to hear that you got something that you'll use. My husband got me a few cool things that I enjoyed and will enjoyed. There is an Agatha Christie exhibit here that he took me to, which was part of my gift. I'm huge fan. He also got a book that looks at some of her methods of murder, which I haven't read yet, but I'm sure I'll enjoy.

We also leave most of the gift excitement for the kids here. But my daughter spent time during her pottery class making Christmas presents for everybody. She made me a bowl. She says it's safe to eat in and put in the dishwasher, but I'm going to use it for a candy dish.

Yes I actually did receive presents I will use, some of my presents were sweat shirt and sweat pants which I like in the winter time, a new nightgown and bathrobe and a really pretty sweater along with a new coffee cup which I will use a lot and a large ham. There there are the stuffed animals that actually look like my dogs and I have them up in my bedroom. These are all things I will use and actually like. Hoodies are really nice to wear around the house and weather permitting outside also.

Yes, I got several. Am enjoying the lavender cachet nightly. The gloves will come in handy on that day I finally have to brave the outdoors. The notes stationery I got will come in handy when I need to thank someone for a nicety throughout the next year. Yes, I have several gifts that I will actually use.

I always ask for books and I give the list of the titles I would love to read. This year my ex sis-in-law had the idea to give us a colorful duvet that we will never use. I have my duvet and I like it plain, to go with the color of our bed and cabinet.
