Frankly, It's Been Awful

Hopefully that's Storm Frank moving off. And not before time too. The village where we live has sadly been badly hit by this storm. I have never personally seen flooding quite to this extent. Sure I've seen awful scenes on television, but never in real life. We were one of the lucky ones. For over 5 1/2 hours today, we had no power, but when you know that others in the village you live have homes devastated by water, it makes you realise how trivial being without power for a few hours really is. It was truly awful to see streets in the centre of the village with water flowing like rivers. Shops, people's homes, caravans floating off, pedestrian bridges being destroyed, sections of road being taken all by the river having burst its banks. I really hope never to see such a scene again.

Sorry to hear you didn't have power again. It's still very windy here and raining again, it did stop for a time. Yeah it's been terrible weather, terrible storm.

@kevin1877uk Flooding and the clear up after is awful. We had a flood a few years ago, but was caused by the shower developing a fault when we were away from home. Would hate a repeat of that, so have an understanding of what they are going through.

@Darroch I've never been flooded so I wouldn't know, I feel sorry for those who have and have been a few times this winter already.

It is terrible. I have seen it once and luckily it wasn't my family whose home was ruined. Take care.

Yeah, it is awful to see. You do really feel for all those with flooded homes. Worrying thing here is there is more rain forecast from tomorrow for a few days, so I'm dreading that and really hoping that their isn't a repeat of flooding to the village.

Yeah, truly horrible to see. Your hear really goes out to those with flooded homes. Worryingly there is more rain forecast from tomorrow for the next few days, so praying that doesn't cause more flooding. Happy New Year to you too.

I feel you. Here in Missouri, USA we are being hit by horrible flooding. They just evacuated the 3rd or 4th town near the actual city. We broke the record held for 12 years as far as how high the water has gone.

It is awful. We're very grateful that we are one of the lucky ones as our home was not flooded, but your heart really does go out to those less fortunate.

Yikes. So pleased you haven't been directly affected, apart from the power going off. The images on the news are truly awful.
