You guys know that I have Diego. My son got him from his girlfriend who didn't want him anymore. Diego is a great dog but his has separation anxiety. Every time my son leaves the house he whimpers after he. I have tried to stop him from doing that, talking sternly to him, or showering him with love and affection but he just won't stop. My son was thinking of a muzzle for him but I hate those things. What do you think?

I dont have any ideas on it. I hope that eventually he will feel safe enough to stop it.

muzzle wont stop the whines. have to work on the behavior. I hate linking stuff, but this might help.
My dog Pippa whines and whines and whines whenever someone leaves the house, even if I am still home sitting right next to her! About Pippa: We got Pippa from a terrible vet a few months ago and she was in a bad way; she was very timid, very very thin, had

@winterose yw, was hoping so. people try to treat a dog like a person sometimes, what works with a child, doesn't always work with a dog, and punishments also don't often work

I have no dog but I don't understand how a muzzle could stop the whimpering.

that was my son's solution, I am not fussy over a muzzle.

Your fur person has PTSD. You want to muzzle a human for that? Dogs pick and choose their loves. Like a human kid caught in a divorce. Not easy on the poor confused fur kid. Just love up Diego and please try not to yell too loud.

he is used to yelling that is what he got all his life. He gets lots of love, he is always beside my son or me, and he gets attention all the time.

it is called separation anxiety when dogs do that.

@winterose I know. I also think the pup has PTSD from his having to leave his home and person.

@winterose our dog does the same thing when my husband leaves him. I don't think a muzzle will stop whimpering.
