How does MyLot work?

The site MyLot is pretty great, as I've interacted with people who are really nice and who just have nice things to say about everything. However, how does it work? Why does the website pay us? I can see my earnings go up in the past few days, how many does it take to get a dollar? And does the rate at which the earnings increase, does it speed up gradually or slow down? Also, do more comments, or more posts earn better?
